Bitmob Community Jukebox No. 20 -- Happy, Crappy Holidays Special Edition

I am at a loss for words. I couldn't have imagined that video game music could be this bad...or this hilarious.

The community really stepped it up for this special edition of the Jukebox. The legacy of absolutely bad, absolutely awesome video game music that haunts gaming history totally surprised me. We all know bad game music exists; I just didn't expect this many funny, awful stinkers.

If you truly hate your ears -- and good taste -- please, listen to this masochistic deluge of aural defecation.

Be sure to make special note of Brian Shirk's classically repetitive, early-NES bloop-farts; Alex Cronk-Young's trashy laundromat masterpiece; and Brian Petro-Roy's schmaltzy, faux-Celine Dion epic (which totally ruins one of my favorite games).

For any newcomers, this is a special edition. Normally, I chose only the finest pâté of digital ditties. Please, hit the jump to find out more.

I've got two ways to displease you ears:

Method 1: Pick and Choose

My Selection

1) Sonic R -- Super Sonic Racing

Community Selections

2) Marvel Vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes -- I Wanna Take You for a Ride inflicted by David Matos

3) Tekken 6 -- Yodeling in Meadow Hill inflicted by Aaron Rivers

4) Dragon Warrior -- Battle Theme inflicted by Brian Shirk

5) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night -- I Am the Wind inflicted by Brian Petro-Roy

6) Street Fighter 3 -- Elena's Theme inflicted by Matthew Mason

7) Clay Fighter -- Title Screen* inflicted by Evan Killham

8) Krusty's Super Funhouse -- Area 1* inflicted by Travis McReynolds

9) Cruis'n Exotica -- Menu 1* inflicted by Alex R. Cronk-Young

10) Donkey Kong 64 -- DK Rap inflicted by Jazz English

11) Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure -- Banson's Aria inflicted by Ryan Conway

12) Limbo of the Lost -- King of Limbo inflicted by Jasmine Maleficent Rea on all that is good and hopeful in the world (++bad)

Method 2: Let It Ride

(Click here to listen in a separate window.)

For all you newcomers, here's how it works. There are few simple rules/guidelines for submitting songs:

1) Every week I will post 15 well-known -- and not-so-well-known -- songs.

2) For each post, I will choose as many as 14 community suggestions to put toward the 15. I will make up any shortfall.

3) Songs from music games with original music and licensed songs from game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto are OK. Submissions from games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band will not be accepted. Otherwise, this post may turn into a competition between people's favorite bands.

4) Each week, I will select one song as the Double-Plus Good Pick of the Week. The winner will receive exactly nothing save that their song will be featured last and will have a "++good" marker next to it.

5) Only one submission response per person, per week.

Finally, if you'd like to win the Double-Plus Good Song of the Week, try to think of an obscure song or a song you think I have overlooked in previous posts.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who submitted for making this special edition a success.

Jasmine takes home what is essentially the Razzie of video game music awards.

This was a really tight competition. It was a photo finish to see who's pile of shit steamed the most...but in the end, Limbo of the Lost's ending theme may be one of the most pernicious, evil things ever visited upon humanity.

The creators of that game need to be drug into the streets and shot with balls of their own feces.

Maybe I'm weird, but I love I Wanna Take You For a Ride. It's such a wacky song. Crazy saxophone, silly horns. The fact that it's so repetitive makes it BETTER!

Heh, I thought of Sonic R after I submitted Elena's Theme. I would have picked "Living in the City" myself, but pretty much everything with lyrics in that game is god-awful.
Matt Mason , December 28, 2009
He's the king of Limbo, James! I think the song might be the only original thing about the game. Also, check how they're all the same guy.
Jasmine Maleficent Rea , December 28, 2009
@Matt I actually spent about ten minutes debating between Livin' in the City and Super Sonic Racing. I went with the latter because it has the word "Sonic" in it.

Kind of an arbitrary choice.

@Jasmine All the voices you mean?

I was in the mood for something funky, so here's my submission.

Another tune from Hatsworth. This time it is the final boss theme. It is epic... in a good way
Ryan Conway , December 28, 2009
We're back to good music, right? I hope this hasn't been picked before...
