" Great response, and thanks for the correction on salaries, I may have been thinking of a different area in which women are out doing men in business, I'll look it up later.

Heres what I think of women, I think women and men are equal. Women are not better than men, men are not better than women. Everyday we see men represented as pigs, drunks, agressive brutes, dogs in relationships, and just all out not too bright in life, many of these representations have become stereotypical male portrayals. What we do not see is articles being written about how sexist this portrayal of men is in society.

In our society, to show women behaving in any negative way that is uniquely  female,  is called sexism. I guess I just dont agree with the way we are defining sexism these days. There are disgusting men and there are disgusting women, why are we only allowed to acknowledge the existence of disgusting men?

Instead of trying to create an atmosphere in which we go out of our way to make one of the sexes  appear without blemish, while leaving the other sex to decay into a state of utter uselessness in our society, I would like to see a movement to treat everyone with equal respect.

Its no more sexist to represent the existence of "gold digging sluts" in a game than it is to represent the "male pigs" that chase after them, both scenarios are negative and both are rather stereotypical, in an ideal world we would not celebrate such people at all I guess, but this is not an ideal world.

By singling women out as above negative portrayal, then we have to heap all the negativity on the men in our society, and what does this do to our young men and boys growing up? Our young males are falling below their female counterparts in almost every measurable way, how can we not see this as problematic.

You assuming I hate women is as ignorant as me assuming you or some random womens rights activist hates men.  I dont hate women, I just think we abuse the term sexism. There is sexism in the world, and it is far more real and damaging than the stuff you are concerend with here. In fact I could argue that it is guys like you who see the sleazy actions a few, as a representation of women as a whole, far more sexist than a guy like me, who sees the sleazy actions of a few as just that, the sleazy actions of a few. I know enough strong positive women in my life to know that in no way are they represented by the stereotypical male fantsies in these video games, and I think most young men do, for petes sake we have mothers, and aunts, even teachers, we all have positive female role models, we are not so small minded as to think that a few sluts in a video game means thats what women are.

But its no fun to pretend and play video games with respectful decent upstanding individuals of immense integrity, who pay their taxes, raise their kids, and make the world go round, and thats  male or female.  LOL

Finally, I want to end with some advice, never assume that a disparity in the representation of a certain group, in a given demographic, is always the result of some injustice, the fact that there are more men in CEO positions and more men in high political office is not necessarily the result of something bad, the world is not that simple. In todays America a woman can do anything a man can do, if a woman is not living up to her full potential, it is not because some man somewhere is not letting her, it is because SHE has not chosen to do so. To suggest otherwise is, well, a bit sexist. :)

" We play games that involve the main characters slaughtering innocent people, robbing, stealing, and lying for cash or even less, yet you are all broken up over the misrepresentation of models? Dont you see how insane that is?

How about a different point of view, when I sit to play a video game it is a time for me to relax, I dont want to be preached at about political correctness, social issues, or any other form of the pathetic state we live in known as reality.

In todays America, women are being paid more for the same jobs as men, and have  higher graduation rates from college, our men are turning into forgotten worthless bags of meat. This game seems to be far more sexist towards men than women, yet you completely glossed over that fact. The game singles out models, but suggests that all men are just mindless apes willing to do anything for the first decent looking female that looks his way.

I guess the point of my rant is, if your going to complain about something so over preached and tired as sexism in games, at least focus on the actual sexism that was on display in the game. I think there are real problems in the world, problems that actually involve people suffering and dying everyday. Again I say we play games that involve the main characters slaughtering innocent people, robbing, stealing, and lying for cash or even less, yet you are all broken up over the misrepresentation of models.

I know its fasionable to be the sensitive educated modern man who concerns himself with such issues as womens rights, saving the planet, and tolerance towards the deviant. But what happen to usung your own brain to judge whats right and wrong. I like that gaming is one of the last bastians free of political correctness just for the sake of political correctness. We dont need more gay characters, or more unrealistically strong heroric women, we dont need less manly heros in gaming and more metrosexual heros in gaming. If you want those things than make games with such characters, but lets not demand that all games represent what some of us feel is right for us, but may not be right for others.

Developers should be free to express themselve how they want, if they are all forced to follow a bunch of unwritten politcally correct rules, then gaming will go the same boring and creatively bankrupt direction hollywood as gone.
