Do you further realize that websites such as Bitmob depend on traffic to stay afloat, and that methods that drive more traffic to our site will allow us to continue to give away more awesome prizes? 

Seriously, signing up for Twitter takes about 30 seconds, it's completely free, and nobody says you actually have to continue to use it.

Your analogy is ridiculous, quite frankly. Lottery tickets cost money, as does joining the NRA. Our contest and our website are completely free and require nothing more than a little of your time.

Also, I don't really think we're alienating a lot of people considering that Facebook is the #2 most visited website in the world behind Google, and Twitter clocks in at a respectable #11.

On a personal level, I resisted joining Twitter for a long time, but I actually signed up to enter a Bitmob contest a while back, before I joined the staff. You know what? While it's not quite as engaging for me as it is for some people, I still use it occasionally, and nothing bad happened to me.

Also, I'd much rather sign up for Twitter than enter my personal information into a random web form and have that information sold to thousands of other companies. Which do you honestly think is more damaging in the long run?
