Actually, the existence of this Zelda timeline has been known for quite some time. I think I remember hearing about its secret existence near Wind Waker's release. And there is some complex lore to be found, especially when you consider there could, in fact, be TWO Zelda timelines. Now, not to go off on a historical rant here...

Ocarina of Time essentially creates 2 universes at the end: you have the one that exists in the future, where Adult Link saves Hyrule, and you have the one where Young Link saves Hyrule from....nothing. Young Link then goes off to Termina in Majora's Mask.

Now, if you remember in Wind Waker, Adult Link is immortalized in legend after defeating Ganon in the future. However, in the opening cinematic, it says he never returns after that (which makes it seem like he went back to his younger version, the other universe). That universe then continues on in that tangent. Basically, they watched a fair amount of Back to the Future:)

And I think after putting two and two together, at the very least Wind Waker's opening cinematic would mean more to you than it did previously, as well as Majora's Mask.

In Skyward Sword's case, it's definitely not as interesting, as it takes place before the universe was supposedly split.

But I would say there's more than enough to speculate on, and have fun with.

I love this interview, great job all around! I was a bit worried about revealing Samus Aran's character in a deeper light, as I've kind of made up my own story as I've played the earlier installments. However, I have very little to complain about when the interview details how involved Yoshio Sakamoto is with the story aspects of the game. That reassures me to no end. Before I was worried the game would fail in some respects, but now my frothing demand for this game increases exponentially:)

I was so happy from this interview that I read it twice. Badda bing:)
