Video Game Rebus Puzzles
Written by Jay Henningsen

Editor's note: Jay's becoming Bitmob's resident Game Master. First he turns the site into a Choose Your Own Adventure game, and now he gives us a set of game-themed rebus puzzles. I got five! How many can you figure out? -Jason

A rebus is a puzzle that subsitutes pictures for words or word sounds. To solve the puzzle, you sound out the pictures and string them together to find the answer. I've turned the titles of 10 video games into rebus puzzles. Can you guess all of the titles?

A link to the answer key is at the bottom. Good luck!

Wow, those are really cool...and really hard. Rebus puzzles are awesome.

4, 7, or 10. Can't figure them out. Don't want to cheat. I'll come back later and try again. Cool idea Jay. I know we're supposed to hate each other, but you've been pumping out awesome shit lately.
Alex R. Cronk-Young , November 24, 2009
Got them all pretty quick except the last one. Don't know what that second picture is alluding to.
James DeRosa , November 24, 2009
Got 'em! It's quite satisfying to figure these out on your own. Well done.

@James - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aum
Alejandro Quan-Madrid , November 24, 2009
James,

It's the devanagari symbol for Aum.
Tom Gibson , November 24, 2009
@Alex - Thanks for the compliment. There's no hate here, sir. Screw the "supposed to" and just have fun.
Jay Henningsen , November 24, 2009
I can't believe how much fun I just had solving these rebus puzzles (managed to solve 8 out of 10 of them, got stuck on #4 and #6). Nice job Jay, definitely should make this a regular feature (along with the Choose Your Own Adventure post).

Wow, these are really well done and very fun to figure out, Jay. Nice work! #10 is brilliant, and I laughed out loud when I finally figured out #4. smilies/cheesy.gif Only #7 gave me trouble; I kept starting the sequence with either pop, soda, or orange, to no avail.

10 out of 10... I'm so awesome! I'd love to see more of these. They were quite clever!
Dan Hsu , November 25, 2009
9/10. The last one was because of a language barrier...
Kevin Zhang-xing , November 25, 2009
Nice work, most of these are challenging but doable. Only solved #10 after reading these comments...never seen that symbol before in my life.

#4 is still a mystery. I understand neither clue.
Daniel Feit , November 25, 2009
@Daniel: #4 took me a while, too. Once you figure it out, you'll laugh at how simple it really is.

Cheated and looked at the answer key for 4, 7, and 10. The first image in 4 is a poor representation of that object as I see one of them every single day and I still didn't understand that thats what it was supposed to be.

hi Jay,

I love this Post!!!! smilies/cheesy.gif

you rock man!
Christopher Quach , November 25, 2009
10/10, though I did need the wikipedia hint that Alejandro provided to solve #10.

Well done Jay!

@Alex You're just weird. I got it, though I did think 'bale' at first.
Jon Shults , November 25, 2009
this was a fun 5 minutes. great work dude. If I were to favourite one of them... I'd totally favourite 6... hilarious.
John Michael , November 25, 2009
That was a good way to start my morning.

I'm ashamed that I couldn't get number 4, though. Also, I give props for having a picture of a freakin' stein.
Erik Jordan Sugay , November 25, 2009
Dear god, these are brilliant =P
Ed Tremblay , November 25, 2009
@Erik - If you look closer, you'll notice it is a World of Warcraft stein as well.
Jay Henningsen , November 25, 2009
I got ten out of ten and felt really special, then read the comments and saw how many other people also solved them all and probably faster than I did.

Nerds.
Kris Pigna , November 25, 2009
Also, by nerds, I meant it in the Liz Lemon-esque expletive meaning, not calling all of you nerds.
Kris Pigna , November 25, 2009
blerg!
John Michael , November 25, 2009
Wow...I'm terrible at these! I'm definitely over thinking them. When I looked at the answers, it was like "Duh!"

Good job, very cool idea!
J. Cosmo Cohen , November 25, 2009
These were very clever. Don't stop here please!
David Matos , November 25, 2009
I agree, the picture for 4 looks more like a brick than what it's really supposed to be...
