Bitmob Spotlight: Ladies in Games, Golden Sun, Freelancing Tips

We've got some good stuff this week, as always. Check out the Bitmob community's take on OnLive and Gaikai, freelancing tips from the pros, one man's ode to Burnout Paradise, and many more after the break.

Learning About Freelancing
By Bill Strait
Like a good freelancer, Bill did some old-fashioned research and came up with this great post about how to break into the game writing freelance market. Robert Ashley, 1UP's Sam Kennedy, and Joystiq's Chris Grant all lend quotes and advice.

The Curse of the Breasted McGuffin
By Jeffrey Sandlin
"Here's a clue for you, fiction writers. Women can do stuff besides make men want to protect and/or bone them, they have brains and limbs and often times have meaningful opinions and goals in life." It's at this point that someone brings up the counter-example of Jade in Beyond Good and Evil, but that's about all anyone's got.

Flying in the F.A.S.T. Lane
By Matthew Erazo
I think this is the first developer interview conducted by a Bitmob community member! Matthew chats with Eric Lindstrom, one of the guys behind iPhone jet-fighting game F.A.S.T. You can also find Matthew's review here.

Depth and Substance
By Brandon Van Haren
Alternate title: Deep Thoughts on BioShock. Brandon goes beyond Atlas Shrugged in this examination of historical influences on the world and story of BioShock. We're talking Atlantis, the Mayan calendar, polar shifts, through the looking glass stuff.

Tips and Tricks from the Swedish Chef and Animal (as in the Muppets' Animal)
By Andrew Hiscock
Andrew takes a strong pro-Muppets stance with two posts starring the Swedish Chef and Animal, in which the Muppets sort-of-not-really answer your gaming questions, in a kind of way.

Milestones in Gaming: The Citadel
By Chris McKenna
Chris takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the use of the term 'citadel' to describe any really huge city/thing in games. Sound boring? No, it is awesome instead. I hope this is the first in an ongoing series.

The Future of Videogames: A Giddy Squeal and a Sigh of Relief
By Adam Planty
Adam is fully ready for play-on-demand cloud gaming services like OnLive and Gaikai. Sign him up. Would someone please take his money already?

Why Burnout Paradise is for Everyone
By Tyler Samson
Tyler took a short break from his busy schedule of playing Burnout Paradise to make the point that you really should be playing Burnout Paradise. He knows that you have excuses. That's fine. He anticipated every last one. If you will just read the damn article you will understand why you are wrong, and Burnout Paradise is right. Burnout Paradise.

The Golden Sun Anticipation is Killing Me
By Pete
Dollars in hand, ready for spending, the mysterious Pete (he of no last name) is freaking out at the news of a new Golden Sun on DS. Coming next year. If the Golden Sun fanclub needed a president, that position has been filled.

Thanks again Demian! I'm really stoked about the exposure.

Wow. My blurb made it onto the front page BEFORE the 'you have to click this' break? And with a picture and a quote no less! Sir you forget yourself. Their are people who actually did research for their post that should come ahead of the opinionated complainer LOL. Just the same I appreciate the buzz. Female characters in games is always a talked about issue but rarely one that anyone holds developers accountable for ignoring.
