When the Invaders came, it was up to every man, woman, and child to stop them. Japan plunged into a coin shortage in the attempt, and the U.S. looked to its plentiful supply of hunters to hold off against the swarm. Life Magazine remembers these brave hunters.
Well, it would be cool if the U.S. really did send hunters after the pixelated beasts (Japan really did go through a coin shortage when the Space Invaders craze swept through the country, though). This image, and the fantastic victory shot after the cut, are the mixture of Life Magazine's old photography and Ryan Snieder's art. The blending of the two is marvelously seamless.
