It is interesting that you ask is he a doormat or not or is he a badass. You will come to learn as the game progresses Marston will start to define his character. I relate the start of RDR to East of Eden, it takes a long time to get going and really delve into the characters. Once it takes a hold though the game flies and you meet more people, the characters start to act how you think they will and some won't.

Rockstar defintely went for the movie feel, and you can tell that from the intro on the train. Marston says nothing, but you can tell somehow his character is deep in thought about the conversation the priest was having with the young woman.

Marston acts on his own accord, and the whole entire thing is about redemption. But is it for the things he has done in his past? His family? Rockstar does a good job of holding your hand and then really amping it up. I will also say this now. The game isn't over until the credits roll. Once they do it will feel like a cinematic experience that you got to interact with. Sure you weren't able to choose paragon or renegade with the click of a trigger, but you had to act how Marston would have acted. Even if you hated his choice. That is what made the game so awesome in my opinion. I hated Marston for the first half. Then you see his intentions, and you warm up to him, and hate him at the same time.

I will admit the moment I heard a new Bioshock was in the works I let out a huge sigh and thought to myself that it would be out next fall and be just a simple turn around profit. Then the release date was annoucned for 2012, video was shown and the GameInformer article came out. It has jumped into the top 10 of my most wanted games coming out. #4 is my favorite due to the fact that Levine is amazing with words and creating the worlds that we come to live in for the playtime of the games.

Why is Marston doing all of these things?

His family.

Just wait until Mexico and finish the game up and you see how well Rockstar set up Marston as a character.

(sorry for the vague comment, so many spoilers to be had if I ran my mouth)

Out of all the gaming I have done the Mass Effect series stands out above the rest and you did an amazing job expaining why exactly that is.

I have beat Mass Effect 2 eight times with a different Shepard for each attempt. My first playthrough was a save file from the first ME, and he was fully paragon and had a romance with Liara. I booted up ME2 and went through the game doing everything a paragon would do, all the options came up I did them. At the end of the game I told the Illusive Man to shove it and proceeded to save my entire crew, myself and hopefully the world in ME3. Something didn't feel right though, and that is what started my seven other shepards.

My favorite character is actually a female as well. Hey, its roleplaying and I won't be a girl anytime in the future. I did the same and tried to be the exact opposte of what I would do normally. As the game progressed I became sick being a jerk to my crew. Here are these people going on a suicide mission, and I am making fun of their past experiences. By the end of my 8th, final and favorite Shepard I finally got it right. The save file was from ME1 where I saved Wrex, the Rachni Queen and let the council live. I was part paragon and part renegade due to the times where things needed to happen. In ME2 I made similiar decisons regarding the Geth.

I am excited for what ME3 will have in store for certain decisions, the fully Paragon and fully Renegede Sheps, and the ones that wallked on the line.

I completley agree with your post. I did not have as many issues as you did with Fallout:New Vegas and I think that might be because I had mine for the Xbox 360. If there is anything I learned while playing the Fallout games is save and save often in case of game breaking glitches. When I pulled up my Vegas data I have a total of 23 save files. It might seem like way too many, but I also do that in case i mess up a mission, and I also love my achievements. (Like getting to neutral, evil and good karma at level 30 in Fallout 3, hence the saves files)

I think the biggest developers are having is that they are almost too ambitious, and very lazy near the end of the development cycle. Just be careful when you get near the end of the game. I won't spoil it, but you will be defending a landmark. Save often, very often. I experienced a lot of freezes and a ton of glitches. The whole experience took me about 3-4 hours when it should have only been an hour of really intense combat and decision making, but instead it was really intense swearing and getting up to turn off and turn back on my 360. (Least I got a workout)
