Sonic 4: Episode 1 is the best console Sonic game since the Dreamcast. It’s a true statement, but instead of being an accomplishment, it only serves to remind us how awful console Sonic games have been these past couple console cycles.

The best part of grades one through four was undoubtedly Oregon Trail 2. I still don’t fully understand how educational it was (other than learning was the definition of scurvy,) but like most kids, I was really in it for one thing: the hunting.
I want you to talk about your first ever post to Bitmob. Why’d you write it? How was the response? How have you grown as a writer since?
Love reading what people write in the margins of books? One Bitmobber asks why games can't take the concept and run with it.

Which developers would you choose to make a game for you?
We've been beating Bowser for more than a quarter of a century. Can we give another bad guy a turn?

I have a notebook full of undeveloped ideas for Bitmob articles. Chances are, so do you. Instead of leaving them to die in your own notebooks, wouldn't it be better to let someone else take a crack at them?
Get to know that guy with the weird last name! Protip: it's pronounced "Ken-a-key."
In my opinion, video game music died with the N64 and PS1. It’s not that there’s not good music that’s been made since, but there’s certainly something that’s been lost from the days of chip-created tunes. So when Chris Hoadley came up with his “concept album” writing prompt, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about: Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
It's been five years since I bought a Nintendo handheld. Is WarioWare D.I.Y. the game to finally get me to upgrade?
Crackdown-2-demo-coming
Demos haven’t changed much in their short history. We’ve gone from demos on discs to downloadable ones, but that hasn’t changed the content of demos, just the way we receive and consume them. Crackdown 2 and Just Cause 2’s demos however, have the potential to change the way we think and play demos. Changes I believe are for the better.

People discover new music in all sorts of different ways. Here are some bands and tracks I've discovered while playing games.

" I know in my write up about it, I didn't seem like I enjoyed Sonic 4, but there are definitely times when I was having fun.

You're certainly onto something there. If Sega had just put out another bad Sonic game, it would have been no big deal, but there's something in Sonic 4, something good, and to see them still miss the mark while giving us what we want is disappointing.

We can see the potential and it makes it hard to just write them off completely like we'd like to.

" @Shoe Ah, so that explains how you beat us on Sword Base! Haha, I guess that makes up for our "extra practice round" on Reflection!

" @Mike I actually played a bit of Sonic 1 today. I wasn't ever a big fan of the Marble Zone, but I do see your point. But in Sonic 4, Sonic accelerates so slowly that the methodical platforming sections are made artificially difficult.

" I can understand that. I haven't seen Dimps' name anywhere on the start up screens, whereas Sonic Team is plastered all over the thing.

" This was awesome. It almost makes me want to re-buy Fallout 3 and give it another shot.

Then I remember I hate that game.

Regardless, well done. Really enjoyed the style you used here.

" That's a shame, I would've definitely given it a shot on my iPod Touch.

" Really well written and an interesting perspective. I've had a similar connection with my characters from Golden Sun for the GBA. It's gotten so bad, I've actually considered buying a second copy of Dragon Quest 9 (because they only allow one save slot per game and I'm not about to overwrite a 230 hour file,) and naming my characters Isaac, Garret, Ivan, and Mia. I know it's silly, but I've spent a lot of time with those characters and I'm not ready to be finished.

Awesome job. I love articles that dive deeper into gamer culture than just a review/preview.

" Keep on dreaming the dream. Nintendo appears dead set on keeping Mother from America. Seems like a no-brainer to me to officially bring the franchise to the states, especially with Ness and Lucas's appearances in the Smash Bros. series, but maybe the Big N knows something we don't.
