In this edition of Weekend Recap, Mario wants you to kill raccoons, Skyrim sells over 3 million copies, and Square Enix gives the Unreal Engine another try.

Nyan, nyan, nyan...
Activision has a lot to be thankful for this November. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 earned over $775 million dollars in just five days, breaking the previous record of $650 million set by Black Ops last year.

Take my money!
Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion five years ago, and fantasy fans are now flocking to game stores to buy Skyrim. The massive RPG has already sold over 3 million copies.

Can you identify all the Squaresoft references?
Square Enix has licensed the Unreal Engine for several, unknown titles. The last Square game to use Epic’s engine (The Last Remnant) didn’t sell very well. Would anyone care for an HD sequel to Einhänder?

Kojima. Kojima? Kojimaaa!
How many times has Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima said the series was coming to an end? In next month’s Official PlayStation Magazine, Kojima reveals the next title in Konami’s long-running espionage franchise. Could it be...Metal Gear Solid 5? The suspense is killing me!

Realism hits Mario Kart.
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has dressed Playboy models in lettuce underwear and blocked traffic with conga lines of bloody baby seals to fight for animal rights. Now PETA is after Nintendo's Italian plumber for using a tanooki suit in Super Mario 3D Land. I wish I was kidding. If you think the image above is disturbing, check out PETA’s Mario Kills Tanooki website. Don’t forget to watch the video....

Those PETA folk are a bit excessive. But they make a damn good flash game.

That video of people beating raccoons to death with pipes scarred me for life. The only thing that'll take my mind off it is Super Mario 3D Land.

That skinning scene hurts. Didn't PETA even think that Mario possibly transforms into a Tanooki?

Oh wait, there's also that Tanooki suit. But come on...

How cute! It's a Nyan pop tart soldier!

...And a Tanooki game. And a video. Oh no. Ogh! They just ruined my day.

That video will forever haunt my nightmares. PETA should stick to protesting with nude babes instead of coming between Mario and his Tanooki suit. It's a freaking video game!
