FEATURED POST
Covering games on the Internet my words are often the first thing people see of me. I am constantly aware that, for a new visitor reading my work on this site (or any of the others that I contribute to), expressing myself as clearly as possible is a priority. Dyslexia makes this process hard.

Some brief thoughts about how Western and Japanese development interact.
A look at spoilers and why they upset me.

I am tired of my guy getting the raw end of the deal. It is happening more and more, what happened to all the happy endings?

Alex Beech managed to corral The Behemoth co-founders John Baez and Dan Paladin for an interview at September's Tokyo Game Show. Read on for insight on their development process, how the Japanese react to their games, and what's up with that crying block of tofu teased for their third game.

make no secret of the fact I no longer consider myself a hardcore gamer. I play to experience the worlds games have to offer. Developer Tale of Tales manage to cater to my touristic sensibilities.
Tale of Tales (ToT) is a group dedicated to the creation of original interactive experiences. Founded in 2002 by Auriea Harvey and Michaël Samyn they currently have four (The Path, The Graveyard, Fatale and The Endless Forest) titles available for PC and Mac and one project on hold ('8').
Dark Presence and its sequel, Conquering Light, are two upcoming titles from developer Galloping Ghost. Both are classic 1-vs.-1 2D fighters specifically for arcades, but perhaps more notable is that they use digitized characters.
It seems that governments and parents regularly become fixated on the content of games. They talk about gaming as though it is the corrupter of youth, the new source of society`s ills.

"I am the problem. I admit it. I enjoy looking at attractive women. I suspect if I were a woman I would enjoy looking at men. I maybe wrong most of us are hairy and smelly but there you go.

Companies put their logos where you look, and hire people you want to talk to. No it isn't fair, and yes there are problems with it, but while my eyes continue to be dragged towards the female form marketing people will choose to advertise on it.

The thing is Dan (like you say) it's the balance. There are very few men in similarly skimpily dressed roles, and far fewer women covering the event or running them.

Let be honest though this isn't just a gaming problem its every where, its just some how at game show the contrast between the models and the audience is greater. "

"I thought 0 was meant to be caring.

Did this blood type thing originate in Japan? I heard it was bought over from Europe and the Japanese just bought in to it."

"Try Killzone for another example.

I don't think high concept games are gone by any means, I just think they are not the games we discuss. Peggle, Trash Panic, Flower, Ace Combat (I can go on) are all single idea games. It is true where we find tjhe majority of these games has changed, and there are more diluted game concepts in the wider market, but they are still there. "

"Are these underrated or under appreciated? Id go with Heavenly Sword I think though. Bar the last boss I thought it was fantastic throughout, and a great length (for me) lasting about 6hours total. "

"I do understand that Damien, and yes bad writing is bad writing, but I hear 'immersive' often listed among the banned words which is descriptive. More important to my point in that regard however is where I state -

"vague terms (such as ‘fun’) are placed in a context that clarifies my meaning"

Although I refer to myself here I am trying to make a point about the banned words, that some of them are bad in isolation, but that shouldn't eliminate their use if they can be used effectively within a piece.

Chris, I heard typing can help dyslexia, it didn't do me much good though. Thankfully spell checks do."

"We need to get on this together Dan. I liked it (as you know) and yes this really gave me a taste of what I wished RE5 had been, or at least had more of."

"That not technically what he said Dan, but maybe that what he meant. I have no extra questions for you sir, but hope to hit up some cherry blossoms with you soon. "

"n I started writing every thing had to be 150 words. Significantly harder than I originally thought it would be. Now I limit myself to 700, but still do game haikus which limits me in a similar way. I may have a shot at this, but not sure I want to put myself through this"

"games fall to the individual publisher I believe. More importantly Dan, you for get to mention Steam and its infuriating region coding which on occasion will not reveal on pre-orders that it is unavailable. Such as ME2 which says available worldwide till you try and purchase it, only to find Japan is IP restricted. Oh and the region cartridge thing would have worked for you and your fancy NTSC but not my PAL syst"
