If Sony and Microsoft's new motion-tracking devices succeed with the non-gaming public, they owe it to the Wii Remote's shortcomings.

My being cheap is what's holding me back from playing certain games. I've learned recently that if you wait 4-6 months after release, non-first-party-Nintendo games drop dramatically in price (ex. just picked up Wet for $20 bucks at Sears). So most games I'll temporarily neglect because I'm trying to save money.
Also, though I have my doubts about whether it will actually come out this year, I fully expect myself to neglect DC Universe Online. Combining the potentially endless gameplay of an MMO and my blind love for DC Comics is a recipe for the perfect timesink. Plus, there haven't been any real details regarding monthly fees and whatnot.

Thank you for taking the time to read my nonsense and for the responses. The price-point was certainly a factor, and in an early draft, I spent a couple of short paragraphs talking about it. I left it out because it started to weaken my focus. I was going to link to this interview (http://us.wii.com/iwata_asks/wiimotionplus/vol1_page1.jsp) regarding the introduction of Wii MotionPlus where one of its developers off-handedly mentions that similar technology was rejected from the beginning due to space and cost.
It was that idea that actually got me to write this. It kind of angered me that the tech wasn't available from the beginning, so I thought about why the Wii is as popular with a wide demographic of people as it is. And though it's presumptuous of me to speak for other people, I found in much anecdotal "evidence" that that limited gestural requirement was a positive factor.

" haven't played FF7 yet? I thought I was the bee's knees for waiting until 2006 to play it. I'm very impressed.
Also, I intend to follow you if only for one reason - because "The Constant" is most definitely the single greatest episode in TV history"

"emember in one issue of EGM, due to some review limitations Konami put in place for MGS4, a few of the editors/reviewers held a roundtable discussion about the game instead. That gave me a clearer look at how they were approaching the game, what they liked about it, how they felt about it. If this approach was allowed to evolve into, say, a well-thought-out and in-depth civil argument, then multiple differing perspectives could be provided (anything that one reviewer might have missed about the game could be pointed out by another). I liked the old 3-man reviews specifically for that possible reviewer disparity, but there was little interaction between the reviewers.
Rather than traditional reviews in the magazine, I would prefer if the new EGM took that discussional approach and applied that to most of the games they wanted to highlight. It's not really a feature that's time-sensitive (a plus for print outlets), and frankly, I think it would be a high-quality, professional version of what we amateurs do in the comments sections of every website ever: argue"

"t's fair. I'm also glad Batman is getting a sequel, but as I'm still in the process of playing Arkham Asylum, my nomination for best sequel setup went to Infamous (I'm not yet sure if Batman is setting up for a sequel, despite one already being announced)"

"t's a pretty fitting category. I can comprehend the gripes people had with this game. The battles themselves didn't bother me, though the high frequency of random encounters did.
It's a shame thinking about what could have been, considering I still enjoyed it overall."

"aking of saves, or lack thereof, the only notable times I really marathon gamed was when I played through the first Kingdom Hearts. The first time I played it was before acquiring a memory card - I just had to play it. I got a bit through Neverland when my PS2 froze up on me. The second time, after learning my lesson and actually getting a memory card, I played through Kingdom Hearts with the quickness, just to get back to where I was and see the story progress.

" the action game, I cheated and put a fighting game, because it's a sub-genre I suppose. As for game of the decade:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
I thought I'd have a harder time sorting this one out, but the choice just felt right"

"hink I remember this being a blog post on CAG. Even if I'm wrong, I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it again now. It sucks about the receipt survey applying only to specific shops. The ones around me have generally stand-up employees (even if I don't ever buy from them). I think I need to work harder on your number 3.;"

I see what you mean. Wii Music took out that aspect and was panned for it.
And oh hell yeah, Bust a Move! HIRO's stage music is so awesomely conceited"

That email notification sure made me feel special. I'm super happy this made it to the front page.
@ The Legendary Shoe: I would certainly say that Wii Sports Resort is a better experience thanks to the enhanced controls provided by Motion Plus. I'm just not sure if it would have been as widely accepted as the original without the original serving as a stepping stone. Going on nothing but pure, baseless conjecture, my take on why the Wii is so successful is that veteran gamers could likely be more willing to adapt to inferior motion controls than non-gamers would be to adapt immediately to exceptionally precise motion controls.
@ Lin: I wish there was less shovelware, too. But, I suppose as long as people keep buying them (because they don't do any research), companies will keep making them.
Thanks again for reading! I really appreciate it!
(Also, the only reason Amy is there is because she is my second best Soulcalibur character. Yep.)
