Pixel Revolt LogoHello, Bitmobbers! We had a great round of responses to our show last week, and we look forward to hearing more from you for the next show. Send on over your email and audio responses by 6 p.m. PST on Thursday for inclusion in the next episode!

This episode's community question is for all of you who have pesky things like jobs, families, and obligations that get in the way of your gaming:

With the glut of great games coming out this year, there are bound to be some you want to play but will have to pass up due to time constraints. What games will you unfortunately have to neglect and why?

By the way, a little tech update: We've changed the way we present voice mails, which means we can now insert them as we record for instant feedback. In other words, record away!

How you can respond to the question:

1) Record a sound clip on your computer, upload it to Houndbite.com, and then send us an email at [email protected] (Preferred)

2) Email your answer to [email protected]

3) Leave a comment here!

Keep in mind it doesn't have to be houndbite, but if you can host the mp3 somewhere that is best. If you are having issues getting us the voicemail contact us and we will try to help.

I usually find a way to play all of the games I want to play. I may not play as much of the game as I would like to, but I'll usually get all of them at some point -- it may not be in the same year, as I'm a cheap bastard and like to wait for markdowns on games that are only mildly interesting. The only time I don't is that rare 360 exclusive, since I won't buy a 360.

The game I most regret that I will not be playing this year has already been released -- Mass Effect 2. When I got the original for PC last summer, it  managed suck me in unlike any other game has done in years, but unfortunately I'm afraid my computer would be unable to run the sequel (the old Pentium 4 does not hold up very well with newer games anymore). Buying a new PC or a 360 for one game seems like a bit of a waste since I recently upgraded my RAM and graphics card, but I've never been so tempted.

Yay! That's why I stopped recording Houndbites! But anyway, for now:

I'm probably going to be skipping Heavy Rain. To be clear, I'm not excited about this game. In fact, I kind of hate everything it stands for: It's a devolution for the format to try and interpolate the movie-going experience into a video game. I think David Cage needs to look to classic titles like Super Mario Bros. and Tetris and really learn what it is that makes the medium unique. As a for instance, the worst book-to-film or comic book-to-film adaptations generally hew too close to the original source material (Say, The Shining versus nearly every Stephen King movie). Video games are a totally different animal than film. As it stands, Heavy Rain just looks like a really classy version of Night Trap or the God of War enemy-execute QTEs.

So the reason I regret not being able to play it, is because my opinion right now if fully uninformed. I wish I could play the game and be certain that my concerns are in fact the case. But in the end, I'm not into the title, so it's hard for me to sit down and play it. My roommate even owns it. I have played the demo, though.

Sorry if that's too long to air!

My being cheap is what's holding me back from playing certain games. I've learned recently that if you wait 4-6 months after release, non-first-party-Nintendo games drop dramatically in price (ex. just picked up Wet for $20 bucks at Sears). So most games I'll temporarily neglect because I'm trying to save money.

Also, though I have my doubts about whether it will actually come out this year, I fully expect myself to neglect DC Universe Online. Combining the potentially endless gameplay of an MMO and my blind love for DC Comics is a recipe for the perfect timesink. Plus, there haven't been any real details regarding monthly fees and whatnot.
