"That sounds really intriguing about Waking Mars. I won't get it in the Indie Bundle since I own most of the games offered already but I definitely want to pick up Waking Mars.

Resonance is a neat adventure game that has you swapping between four different characters in order to progress through the story.  http://www.gog.com/gamecard/resonance"

"Thank you for highlighting the diversity that this title has in its characters. I was not aware of Waking Mars until this article and even though having a racially diverse cast is very inconsequensial to gameplay, I hope that other developers will look at this as an example and show that they don't need to always feature white males in their cast. I think Resonance is another title that does a good job of featuring a diverse cast and doesn't fall into stereotypes.

Also, Waking Mars looks like a good Metroid exploration style title. I'll have to pick it up."

"You're welcome and late praises, I enjoyed reading the article.

I don't know if God of War could be used as an allegory for modern day religion, the style and tone is pretty different from Juedo-Christian religions. But I can definitely see some other games, like Xenogears, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XIII and others could easily be allegories for modern religion."

"I believe the reason that games like God of War haven't received any backlash for killing deities is due to the fact that those gods and religion are dead. I can't recall a game from any period where the gamer confronted the Christian God as an adversary. Xenogears does not count as that's more of allegorical story and god in the game is a man made creation. If there was a game that positively made the gamer fight God, as depicted in the Penny Arcade comic, I'm sure there would be more of a backlash from the Christian community.

As for games dealing more with deicide I believe that's because society as a whole is more secular. When the movies Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur were released that was at the height of the Cold War. The United States was staring down the godless Communists of the Soviet Union so those type of films helped to instill patriotism and pride for one's religion. Conversely, today many people are disillusioned by religion thanks to right leaning politics of the United States and religious fanaticism of a minority of Muslim and Christians. I'm sure the atmosphere of today is helping to shape the way games are either on a conscious or unconscious level.&nbs;"

"Great list. I'll have to check out some of these books; Lamb is already on my list and of course I'll have to read Cosmos being a sci-fi and science fan.

I'd personally like to see Hyperion turned into an epic space RPG. I also read a series called the Commonwealth Saga by Peter F. Hamilton that was a fun, if sometimes cheesy, space opera that would work well as a sci-fi RPG like Mass Effect. Snow Crash would also be good as a game. Hell, plenty of games have already taken concepts from it into what we now know as MMORPGs."

"I'd be interested in removing Killer 7 from my pile of shame. Also any game from the list, except Mad World as I don't own a Wii yet, I can play no problem."

"I vote for Fallout as well. I've played a bit of it but never finished it. By the way, getting Fallout isn't hard at all. gog.com has it for like 6 bucks plus it comes with a bunch of extra goodies.

I also have a copy of Mark of Kri which would be good to get into and I 'acquired' EVO and I'm sure Okage won't be too hard to get."

"t's unfortunate that your girlfriend did not appreciate the brilliance of Chrono Cross' soundtrack. I'm a big fan of Mitsuda as well however my favorite would have to go to Xenogears. I would have to say that playing the game previously is certainly not a prerequiste for enjoying video game music. It might help but I have several soundtracks where I never even touched the game and certainly enjoy it on its own. I've introduced my girlfriend to video game music and thankfully she enjoys the vast majority of it, even the chip tune stuff. So it really depends on the tastes and I suppose how open minded the indivdual is to appreciate video game"

"re have been a few games, outside of puzzle, sports and racing games, whose focal point weren't violence that I have played. Hotel Dusk stands out the most for me in terms of games that don't use violence to solve problems. It has some violence in the story but I can't recall a situation where the main character partipated in violence while in gameplay. I enjoy games like that where you have to use your wits to solve and issue and I wish more games would be like that. Fallout, while it is very violent, allows an option to rely mostly on outsmarting your opponent or being charming or even striking up a deal with him to get out of a sticky situation or to progress the story. Those two examples definitely show alternatives to the whole shoot everything in sight style of gameplay. I'm sure the vast majority of LucasArts graphic adventure and other games similiar in nature are not overly violent to back up their gameplay. I personally haven't played any of them to be a great judge of"

"mes Never say never, and never say die. Nintendo did remake the original Metroid for the GBA so there's potential that they could do a HD remake for Super Metroid. I'd love to see a Demon's Crest remake. If they just update the graphics and keep the gameplay, I'd still be fine with that. Oh and Xenogears HD remake p"

"aven't been interested in Guitar Hero was given to Activision. I personally feel that Harmonix does a much better job with the music game genre and hasn't cheapened it by throwing in gimmicky boss battles or other bs like that. Now where's my Blind Guardian, Helloween, Angra and other power metal bands? I'd request for more death metal bands, but I think that power metal would have a bit more appeal. Oh and more Pantera. And Megadeth. Loads more of that p"

"njamin I'd love to see a reality show that isn't competition based, however there would be a lot of legal loop holes to jump through since a lot of propietary information would be revealed. I suppose you could release it after the game in question was released and perhaps censor out some of the confidential elements. But I don't know of any company that would be willing to do"
