Best Worst Box Art of 2009: Dead Space: Extraction

It's bad enough when your box art looks like you came directly from the bargain bin, but it's even worse when said box art is hiding what's actually a good game. Dead Space: Extraction was a great use of the "Guided Experience" mechanic, and told a tightly-wound story that worked with what the tech that the developers use; that's what makes the game's box art that much more of a crime. There have been worse box arts this year, but most of them deserve the awful photoshop graphics and extreme text on the cover. Extraction had it hard enough as it is, and I'm sure this atrocious box art only made things worse.

I think it was an interesting throwback to 16-bit era box art. Nothing on the level of Contra III (which is the best box art of all time) but reminiscent of the art style of the time.

I agree with Michael. I think you could go to the Wii section of any store and find a ton of third party crap with much worse box art than this game.

I love this idea, though, even if I do not agree with your choice.

Great post!
