Publishers love releasing special-edition packages for their most-anticipated games. Some of the bonus items are more useful than others.

We don't see a lot of minority video game developers in magazines and on television. Is that a real issue, or should we be more concerned about having creative designers in the industry?

The first article of a series that will look at games that stand out from others: Video games are perfect for relieving stress, yet even they can be . . . stressful. Why not try a game that "breaks the mold"? Why not play the no-stress game Cloud?

Adulthood comes with many responsibilities. For gamers, no responsibility is more important than cleaning a video game console that is seldom played.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance has the best action around, but some of the simplest tasks its characters do come off as . . . too epic.

Using the slogan "A Survivor is Born", Crystal Dynamics presents a weak and vulnerable Lara Croft through how her voice sounds when she is in danger. But will that voice grow as much as her physical abilities and character do within the game?

8-bit music still has a firm footing in the world, with the likes of I Fight Dragons sampling the sound.

Sony says they care more about profit than competing with Microsoft this year. Does that make them a big bad greedy company? No. They just want to make a living.

Are subtle gestures and limited dialogue better at telling a story than long conversations and gratuitous explosions?

"Thanks, Rob, for editing my article and placing it on the front page. Jerry Lawson is a true inspiration for everyone. "

"Thanks, Dammy!  I think it's awesome that you are from Nigeria and married to a white female. I don't come across that very often. But I think you're right: race shouldn't be a big deal, but we can't ignore it at the same time. I wonder when we can slowly phase out race completely from our conversations. "

"Thanks, Jason. Completely agree with your comment.  I really like writing fiction--short stories, novels, and I even wrote a script a couple years ago. Maybe one day I'll be good enough for the games industry. :)"

The Devil transformations at the end stay true to some of the Tekken games where players fight Devil or Ogre. So I'm not surprised by seeing that. Jin andKazuya transforming made sense because that's what they do in the games, but I didn't need Heihachi and his Mokujin spirit. I'm optimistic that one can write a good plot for a movie based on a fighting video game franchise; it's just not this movie, though.

But do you like the Tekken video games at all? I think they're okay--I'm not a huge fan of fighting games in general, except Soul Caliber 3. I'm a sucker for customizable characters. "

Yeah, Shin was an excuse to bring together--Namco was better off with a Tekken tournament plot than this. Apparently the M gene "ran out of juice" and that's why Shin dies. Absurd. I do like the action scenes--the only good thing about the movie. The story is nothing special.

"And how long has this issue been around? Yeah, a long time. Still, no publisher has addressed the female gamers in a positive way. Business as usual, I guess."

"Wow. That sounds awesome, Ryan. My mother isn't into video games. But she will take a board game or puzzle over a video game any day! lol."

"Wow. That report card rule sounds intense. But I think that's a good point you make about appreciating games. I guess if we played them so much we'd eventually get bored with them. You like it more when only play it a few times a month! Moms are great, right?"
