Split my time between to tactic heavy games this weekend with both XCOM: Enemy Unknown & Persona 4 Golden. One revolves around Space Marines, the other High School Students and both are shaping up to be excellent titles.

Came across my old Dreamcast while cleaning out the basement. Plugged it in for a quick, electronic stroll down memory lane.
Mark of the Ninja is a kick-ass sidescroller comprised of equal parts stealth & action with a great freedom to play as you see fit.
Though I am trying my best to keep my figure buying in check, I couldn't resist this Link figma from Max Factory / Good Smile Company. Even if I do need Biggoron's help to repair the Master Sword.

Thanks to an extended, 4 day weekend and a co-operative newborn I finally managed to finish up the Halo 4 Campaign, take the shrink wrap off of XCOM: Enemy Unknown & Persona 4 Golden and fire up Jet Set Radio HD on my PS Vita. All in all, a good week for me & gaming.
With Playstation Plus finally coming to the Vita I thought I'd roll the dice on a year's membership to see if in fact it does have its privileges.
A quick review of 31 Days of Zero Suit Samus from Chris Furniss and Ross Rosenberg.

Without the hardcore behind them, and the casual market moving on can Nintendo stay relevant in today's changing gaming market?
Plenty of ammo, plenty to shoot at - Killzone 3 is WIN WIN for FPS fans.
An interesting story and post-apocalyptic setting can't make up for a boring ride.
I've managed to hold off picking up a 3DS for now, but if any of these games were released I would gladly hand over $250 to Big N.
After hanging out with War for 30 hours I think it's safe to say that Darksiders is one hellvua ride
While Call of Duty: Black Ops may have had an enjoyable single player campaign, I destroyed any enjoyment it might offer but forcing myself to beat the game on Veteran difficulty. What happens to your opinion of a game when fun becomes frustrating? What do you do to remedy that situation?

"Well Ladies & Gents, looks like it's time to pack it up and shut off the lights. I'm certainly going to miss this place, but I'm looking forward to whats in store for all of us in the new digs.

To Shoe & Co - Bitmob has been a great experiment that I hope has paid off for you guys as much as it has for us. Bitmob excelled as a place I knew I could post content safe from forum trolls and other internet meat heads.

Raise your glasses my friends, this round is on me!"

"X-Com at times feels like learning a foreign language, so I can't imageine the difficulty level with it actually BEING in a foreign language.

I chose Stay Puft for the Persona 4 photo because... well... I really don't have a good reason I guess. I've had that guy forever. He was in mint condition on his card when I stored him in a box. Years later, after several moves, his card was destroyed so I opted to just open him up and stick him in my display case. Still makes me laugh everytime I see him though.

Here's a bonus shot of Stay Puft from a previous post just for you :)

"Uhh... have great memories of playing 4-player splitscreen multiplayer in the original Halo, but 4 player co-op? I don't think that came down the pipe until what, Halo 3?

It's ok, sometimes my memories get fuzzy too ;)"

"The Modern Warfare 3 ship is going to sail without me as well... for a little while at least. I agree with your writeup - but I will say, despite a head scratching story and confusing character switching I have enjoyed the previous Modern Warfare campaignst for some pure, adrenaline fueled, FPS fun. Granted, this was completely tarnished by the contempt I was left with after finishing Black Ops - but different developer, so I'm willing to let it slide.

Call of Duty Elite scares me as well. I fell somewhat like a chump for picking up the Gears of War 3 season pass tacking another $30 on to my $60 purchase - but like you said, I viewed it as more of a discount, knowing full well I'm going to pony up for whatever DLC Gears has to offer.

But when developers add in a few additional features and bump the price up to nearly the cost of the game itself, they are putting our wallets into very dangerous waters. First, we had DLC, then on-line passes, then season passes - and now this. If Elite is successfull, and I have no doubt it will be, then our little electronic hobby is going to become increasingly more expensive as time goes o"

"You make some good points there. I can only speak of what transition that has taken place in my house (well, extended family's households) where there are no Pokemons to speak of. Perhaps as my nephews get older, there will be a 5DS out that all the kids will be playing - but right now, they are happy enough tapping away on iPod Touchs & iPads.

I'm curious to see what will happen with the price point. Maybe we'll see it move on both ends of the spectrum - higher priced iOS titles, and lower priced DS/PSP/Vita games. Doubtful I suppose on that second half, but still - curious to see.

As for Nintendo classics & nostalgia - sure, I'm all in there, but I'd honestly much rather have my NES favorites on my smartphone for sporadic, spats of gaming. When I hear about classic Nintendo games coming to their E-shop (not sure what it is called) it does tug at my wallet a bit - but not enough for me to cough up for a 3DS.. at least not yet."

"Oh my god!!! I must have the rest of those figures!!!!!!!!

(photo I shot for my review of Plants vs zombies - would love to have more of the figures to shoot :)

ps - the zombie also made a cameo appearance in my write up for Dead Rising 2

edit - apparently I also used him for my Undead Nightmare write-up.

"you want to stay alive you're gonna have to learn them both. That said, I am much more of a lancer than a gnasher (retro lancer that is). Since the bull charge technique seems to be the popular choice I prefer to sit back and cut the chargers down with surpressing fire. It doesn't always work, but more often than not I find the retro's firepower more than adequate for the job. That is when the playing field is level. If there is lag then there is no hope, and gears becomes riddled with more expletives than bu"

"I never understood the bad rap Dark Sector got. I loved the game and gave it nothing but high marks. Certainly a gem for $10 like you said. My biggest complaint with the story was that I didn't understand why they gave you the powers in the first place. If they just killed you from the getgo, you wouldn't have been a threat at all.

The glaive was an awesome weapon though. Would be there on day 1 if there was a sequel. Not going to be holding my breath th"

I wish I got into Halo Wars as much as you did. What can I say, I'm more of a turn-based kinda guy - all that 'thinking-on-the-fly' is just too much pressure for a grunt like me.

It's funny, but 'strategy' always used to be a adjective I would avoid when picking up games. It took games like Advance Wars & Megaman Battle Network (both on the GBA) to change my opinion of strategy games. Now look at me - I've just crossed the 100 hour mark with Valkyria Chronicles II on the PSP. It certainly makes for a good break from trigger finger fatigue.
