EDITOR'S NOTEfrom Dan "Shoe"

I had completely forgotten about many of these titles until Dwayne brought them up here. I even met with Microsoft at one point years ago to negotiate a first-look cover story for the Marvel game!

Fear Effect

I enjoyed both both Fear Effects and think publisher Eidos should consider a new adventure on current-gen consoles. Heck, even if the fine folks at Eidos don't bring back the main female lead from the both games, I wouldn't mind a new protagonist.

Manhunt

Manhunt

Rockstar, if you are reading this, make it happen...please! Something about sneaking around and killing unwitting thugs in various ways was enjoyable, and it should continue on the PS3 and 360.

Ikari Warriors

Last I played this was way back in arcade days and on the NES. I'm a fan...I want it...'nuff said. Plus, since SNK owns the characters, and they've starred in The King of Fighters franchise, the company could think up some kind of new crossover story with Ralf and Clark.

Turrican

Turrican

I wouldn't mind seeing this shooter make a return, either on all three primary platforms or on the PSP and/or DS.

Star Fox

Why Nintendo doesn't have a new Star Fox action game (and I don't mean another Star Fox Adventures) on the Wii is beyond me. (I'm guessing they can't think of a good storyline involving Fox and his crew.) Regardless, I'm still waiting and hoping that something materializes. After all, Donkey Kong Country and Kid Icarus are still around....

F-Zero

Yet another great series I'd like to see happen on the Wii. And much like with Mario Kart, I'd want to play this game online with friends. Nintendo should be dusting off this franchise and making a new game for the Wii and maybe even the 3DS (the 3DS version can have wi-fi functionality).

Jade Empire

Seriously, Bioware: You are (and always will be) one of my favorite western RPG developers. And having enjoyed Mass Effect 1 and 2 as well as Dragon Age: Origins (and eagerly awaiting ME3 and Dragon Age 2), I'm wondering why you haven't even thought about returning to this franchise and either making a sequel or at least an HD remake of the original game.

Jade Empire (to me, as well as many other gamers) was just such a great game and highly overlooked by the gaming public, and that's just a shame. Please, Bioware...as a loyal fan of your titles, I ask you to consider making a Jade Empire 2. I'm willing to wait as long as possible for you to come up with a good storyline for this cult classic.

Road Rash

Road Rash

Seing as how EA has so many games in their catalog -- like Need for Speed, Madden, and countless others -- it wouldn't hurt the company to drag this franchise from the pit it's stuck in. Just imagine a new game in this awesome series for current systems with online multiplayer, leaderboards, etc.! After all, what better way to win a race then to club someone off their motorcycle or bump into them until they crash into a car and go flying?

So get with the program EA -- after all, you make money on just about every game you own. I want it, and I'm sure fans who've played the previous games would want it as well. Plus, with the recent announcement of a new SSX at Spike TV's Video Game Awards, it just makes sense that this franchise be on current consoles, too.

Well, anyways...that's my list of games I wish would get a second chance -- ones developers and publishers seem to be forgetting about. Any fellow gamers out there who have their favorites, feel free to post your list below.

Cool list. I remember seeing a very playable and far-along version of Starcraft: Ghost back in the day. It wasn't that early in the dev process when it got canned!

Also: Hope you don't mind all the edits I made to your story. :)

It is too bad the Marvel MMO and True Fantasy Live Online were canceled they looked to be interesting. I am still waiting for Starcraft Ghost though and no in my mind it is still coming out. :)

Nice list! As for myself, I'm kind of bummed that that Pirates of the Caribbean game was cancelled. I thought it had real potential.

Keep the dream alive man! I carried a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 torch for nearly a decade, and look where we are now!

You'll never see Starcraft: Ghost. Blizzard's development style just doesn't fit with consoles. Hell, they took seven years to make Starcraft 2, so there's no way they'll risk developing a game for a platform that the manufacturer might discontinue before they finish.

Ikari Warriors has an awesome sequel on the NES, so I'd check that out if you can find a copy. And I believe I read somewhere that Nintendo will port Starfox 64 to the 3DS at some point.

I would also like to see another Manhunt. Although I never played the second one, I really enjoyed the original. One of Rockstar's best games.

I'd like to add X-Com: Genesis or The Dreamland Chronicles: Freedom Ridge -- the former would have been Microprose's return to the classic UFO Defense formula with the X-Com series, while the latter was the original designers' (the Gollop Brothers) evolution of that formula, which Julian Gollop described as being similar to what we later saw in Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3. Also, the Aliens RPG that Obsidian was working on until Sega cancelled the project.

I'd love to see a new Road Rash, and Star Fox. As for canceled games, I'd like to see Starcraft Ghost, B.C., Shenmue 3,

There was a game for the O.G. xbox called B.C. I have been hopeing for a very long time that they would think about going back and maybe gettin ti back on the go. but sadly........my dreams are still dashed. it looked very good! i was truely captivated by it.

I followed the progress of Starcraft: Ghost with some interest... I always thought this particular character arc in the Starcraft universe would play very nicely on a gamepad.  It seemed to me it would have great story potential, and I was hoping it would be a blend of Splinter Cell (stealthy secret agent sneakery), Doom (squishy Zerg gotchas), with a dash of Blizzard magic dust adding texture and fun.  Imagine if it had a sort of Call of Duty/Borderlands control scheme with missions similar to the Chernobyl/sniper quest in Modern Warfare.  With nukes.  Lots of nukes.

Man I was disappointed when it got canned!

There is no doubt Bioware will make a Jade Empire sequel they're waiting for a good chance to surpirse us. I still have my copy of Manhunt!! Also i have Turrican for the SNES loll I would love to see a remake/sequel to Wario Woods. That was a really good puzzle game where Toad was the main, good stuff.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't wish that Marvel MMO and Starcraft Ghost were on their way.

Nice list of games.

I'd be happy to see the old Turrican team(mainly Manfred Trenz and Chris Huelsbeck) get back again to make a new addition to the classic Amiga series. The cancellation of Turrican 3D was a great injustice to the world, even worse is knowing that the original Amiga Turrican games have never been released in any digital distributors such as Virtual Console!

Thanks Dan. i thought long and hard about this list and figured figured i'd bring up these titles since they were in developement and were cancelled before they ever saw release which sucked.

One game i forgot to add to the list (but should have) was the long Forgotten Castlvania game that was in development for the dreamcast but got scrapped (and for those that don't remember there is video on youtube). i think that game was supposed to have a female belmont going after Dracula (not sure but i think Sonia belmont was her name) and was either the mother or or something of Simon belmont.

Also another game i was looking forward to was the Dirty Harry video game. being a fan of Clint Eastwood's movies the game looked sweet from the trailers/Screen shots i saw of it.

Anyhow...if i can think of any other canceled games i'll either edit my list or create a new one.
