Today sees the long-awaited release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but even hardcore fans of the original DX titles will find a lot of new tricks to discover and master. Having played through the game twice, I thought some of you might appreciate learning from my mistakes, and I guess if you leave a comment, you might also randomly win a copy of the entire Deus Ex trilogy....

Giveaway details:
  1. We will randomly choose two winners on Friday, August 26.
  2. The prizes are one Steam code for Deus Ex: Human Revolution and one Steam code for the Deus Ex Collection containing Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Deus Ex: Invisible War.
  3. Along with your comment below, make sure to include your YouTube username and subscribe to the Bitmob YouTube channel

1. This is a stealth game
Although this game boasts an alleged 20+ weapons, you’ll only ever need two: the stun gun and tranquilizer rifle, both of which silently one-shot all enemies besides robots and bosses. Running and gunning will get you killed more often than not, and even the achievements reveal that the developers intended for you to play this game from the shadows. You will usually see a heavily fortified “front door” for trigger-happy cowboys, but you'll always find at least one (and often more than that) alternate route that may not involve conflict whatsoever. You’ll have to hack a door, climb through a vent, or punch through a wall, but especially on the higher difficulties, it pays to avoid firefights.

2. Buy, buy, buy, sell!
Going stealth not only keeps you safe, but it also prevents you from expending valuable -- not to mention extremely limited -- ammo or hanging on to bulky weapons that you can sell to black market dealers. Unless you’re putting away for Jensen’s retirement fund, you have no reason to hang on to your credits. Whenever you first enter a new city hub (or return to an older one), always find the LIMB clinic and drop 10K for two new Praxis points. Because they are so limited, getting two additional points sooner rather than later will give you a notable advantage in whatever trials lie ahead.

3. Enemies are blind, deaf, and dumb
Human Revolution’s enemies are inexplicably modeled after those found in Metal Gear Solid, and I don’t mean Old Snake’s recent romp: we’re talking 1998, PSOne cone-of-vision blindness. In fact, the Stealth Enhancer augmentation allows you to see the AI’s visual field. This pretty much lays out a roadmap of how to remain invisible even while running through a well-lit and crowded room. And although takedowns may sound loud to you, they’re apparently inaudible to the NPCs; if you stealth drop an enemy five feet away from another, they will be none the wiser as long as they were looking the other way.

Even if enemies do spot you, you need only hide in a vent for a few seconds (like all stealth games) before the AI opponents forget about those 10 dead bodies they just discovered and go back to their predictable patrol routes.

I bought the first Deus Ex on Steam like forever ago, but I still haven't gotten around to playing it. I should really do that. Haha.

Hooray for MGS sneak mechanics! Does it use the same sound too that you've alerted someone? All joking aside though, this game looks amazing. I've previously used the idea of buying something to test, then reloading in case it doesn't suit my style.

I just learned that you can hack a turret to fire on the AI, then pick it up with a strength aug and carry it around the entire mission doing all the killing for you. Too bad there's no achievement for that!

Now that's just cheating. :D

This game looks absolutely stunning, I really can't believe it's taken a decade to see a real successor to one of the finest games I've ever played.
I'm sure the game is awesome (the internet is awash with praise) but I already know that the game's theme tune just won't live up to expectations, the original's score was just too fitting!

Some interesting tips that I will keep in mind whenever I get to play the game. Speaking of the game, I have to, perhaps shamefully, admit I never have played any other Deus Ex game. That doesn't matter, however, because I'm still REALLY hyped for Human Revolution. It just looks good and it SOUNDS good. It looks like the kind of game that I will love forever and ever.

I've never played any Deus Ex game before so I guess Human Revolution will be a good place to join in, been hearing that Invisible War was not as good as the first Deus Ex game, but this looks awesome in all ways. And it's good to see the PC game market is heading towards more 'real' games, where it only takes a few hits to die, it's really good to see logics in a game.

I used to own Deus Ex: Invisible War. An epic game... The surprise of finding it again between my cds was so great!

Almost as great as my delusion when I realized the CD was split in three pieces :-(

So yeah, I found this.. I Damn hope I'll be extracted.

And reading your review only made me think of Hitman: Silent Assassin, and those enemies who would notice you one mile away if you had a surgical tool in your hand, yet were blind if you had a 'concealed' sniper rifle..

Fun times.

I saw the news and media and it made me want this game. But financial crisis forced me to wait until the game gets cheaper.

And I feel lucky.
