New retro gaming mag Scroll hits virtual shelves

Those of you who frequented 1UP.com at any time in the past four years (and considering this site was founded by ex-1UP folks, that means a lot of you) have probably consumed some product created by one Ray Barnholt. The former Retronaut and Sound Tester, laid off from 1UP in October, has just launched his new project, a retro gaming magazine called Scroll.

Magazines are a difficult undertaking in any case, but Barnholt put together this 40-page physical issue entirely on his own. He wrote all but one article and did all the design and layout himself as well. No mean feat.

Since it's a brand-new publication, I can't speak for the content inside (although that Super Famicom on the cover is getting me excited). Based on Ray's track record, it'll probably knock your socks off. You can check it out for yourself at Scroll's MagCloud page, where preview images and ordering information await you. According to Barnholt's Twitter, more issues are forthcoming, especially if this one sells well. So get on it.

You had better believe that I'm paying attention to this. Ray Barnholt is awesome, and this is exactly my kind of games writing.

Very tempted by this. I'll see how much the shipping will cost to get it to the UK, and go from there.

Just ordered a copy, Ray is great and anything I can do to support the guy I am more than willing to do.
