Editor’s note: I used to be a big-time swag collector. I’d go to E3, snag as much I could, and then put it on eBay to recoup some of my travel costs. But that was back in the day; I'm reformed now. Here, Chris shows off some of the interesting freebies he acquired at PAX East. Nice haul! - Aaron

My previous PAX entry contained no pictures, which is sad. I explained in that post that my I didn't have my camera, but that didn't stop me from taking pictures of all my free stuff when I got home:

This was a book that contained all-things-PAX. There's a map of the show floor and so on. I love the art work, of course.

The bag was the first thing you get when entering PAX. It contained a bunch of goodies, so I emptied it and took pictures. Unfortunately, I think I may have stuffed a few things that weren't originally in there, but you get the general idea. The Magic cards were in there, though, and it's my first pack. I wonder if this card game will catch on?

This was the next bag I got. All I had to do was give some lady my email. I wrote "Mickey Mouse." She wasn't paying attention.

I headed to the Turbine booth next, where two of the developers were giving away Lord of the Rings Online, and signing the box. The collector's edition no less. Pretty cool. They ran out of t-shirts while I was waiting in line, but I came back later and snagged one by begging and pleading.

These are just stickers, except the Lord of the Rings Online disc. That's a soundtrack. I didn't realize it was already in the collector's edition before I nabbed it.

CPU magazine was giving away a free, six month subscription, plus this complimentary issue. If you click the picture, you can peruse the entire magazine. I took the liberty to photograph every page. Just kidding.

This game, Power Gig, sounded like Rock Band, but here's the difference: it features a real, working six-string guitar. I didn't see any gameplay, but I hope it works well. To get this shirt, I had to put it on in front of the developers.

With everything I had collected, it was time to upgrade my bag. The guy at this booth, Zotac, was too busy watching Wolverine: Origins to care whether I grabbed the bag or not. I'm not kidding, either.

Here's my favorite shirt. Like I mentioned previously, these are the developers I wanted to meet, and they were kind enough to throw a shirt my way. And some pins.

I bumped into Jerry/Tycho and had him sign my badge. All day, prior to meeting him, I was practicing what I was going to say. When I saw him, all I could get out was, "Thanks for doing this." I'm glad I didn't throw up on him or something.

Well, that's it for the pictures! Hope you guys enjoyed. And I hope that other people took pictures of the show, I know I'd love to see some.

Dude, I still don't have everything put away from what we collected this weekend.
I'm telling you - next year I'm bringing rolling luggage!

Oh, and the pics aren't showing up for me... I tried using IE6 (urgh) and Firefox 3.6.2

I really like the art on the cover of that book. It just looks cool.

You got some cool stuff, but the only automatic swag that was worthwhile was the program book, the Behemoth lanyard, and the deck of Magic: The Gathering cards. I threw all those advertisement cards out when I realized almost all of them were just ads, and the others were basically ads with slight discounts for the companies' booths at PAX East.

I'm most happy with my Puzzle Quest 2 buttons, but the one piece of swag I really wanted was one of those Skate 3 decks. It had awesome art that had been made for PAX East. I didn't even try for one though, since I'd never played Skate before and saw that you had to get 70,000 points to get a skateboard.

I was happy to finally get some swag, after hearing the term for years, with nary a swag for myself.

I really enjoyed everything that I got. I was most happy with the buttons the Bit Trip people handed out.

@ Luke Flora: I debated whether to try for the Skate skateboard, but decided against it. I would've had to carry that thing around the whole day!

@ Julio Cho: Irrational Games is their own company now. They are no longer a part of 2K. They didn't have a booth, they were just out and about. If you read my previous post, you can see how hard it was for me to track them down.

Oh no! I didn't realize Fangamer had Chrono Trigger stuff! :(

@Chris - THAT was the reason you didn't go for the skateboard? Yeah, you would have had to carry it around, but I bet that thing is all kinds of collectible. I'm not a skater, but that would have made a sweet wall decoration.

Cool stuff, Chris, the monster in the first pic looks like Mass Effect's Wrex!

Let me know if you plan on not using that Lord of the Rings Online bonus content and subscription card. I've had an account since launch but never got a chance to get more game time due to my region of the world not having that type of service.

Cheers!

@Chris - Just FYI: I believe that Irrational is technically still part of 2K, but only changed their name back to Irrational. From what I know, this was for reasons of posterity and such. People know the name "Irrational Games" now and that carries a good reputation, so the name was switched back although 2K is still the parent company.

@ Ernie: You're right! And I realized that later after I typed that, later that night, but forgot to come back here and say that. Thanks!
