Talk about a horrible concept that could only come from the 1980s.... Soldier Girl Amazon (known in Japan as Sei Senshi Amatelass) sets the mighiest female warrior on a quest to recapture the men capable of continuing the "only race of giant womankind." Sometimes you really can't make this up.

Soldier Girl Amazon is an arcade game from 1986 that curiously looks like Squaresoft's Nintendo Entertainment System title King's Knight. They came out in the same year and both feature semi-shooter mechanics with sprites wandering a scrolling world map.

The girl in the Japanese flyer for the game couldn't look less pleased about being a giant Amazon.

So, how exactly does a Greek mythological figure with medieval European weapons and modern day footwear translate into a top down shooter? I don't miss the '80s.
