I played some of Rage at E3, and it’s hard to deny that it has its own charm and personality. The slack-jawed redneck vibe of the setting may be a little strange, but only until you realize that gun-loving yokels are probably the only people who could survive an apocalypse.
Video Blips:
Rage seems like a pretty traditional shooter on the surface, but the developers disagree. I will admit, throwing blades in people’s faces was pretty damn fun...even more than shooting them. I suppose that qualifies as untraditional.
After the break, listen to Eidos Montreal talk about Deus Ex: Human Revolution, check out some early gameplay from Tribes Ascend, and satisfy that superhero ego in The Baconing.
The developers of Deus Ex: Human Revolution put a lot of thought and effort into creating a believable future. I already stated my thoughts on the game’s art style in a previous article. All that’s left is for you to watch this video and judge for yourself.
If you like science fiction and first-person shooters, then Tribe Ascend will probably be your game. The original Starsiege Tribes was one of my first PC shooter experiences, so it should be no surprise that I’m excited about this. And you should be, too. Why? Because you get a freakin’ jetpack, duh!
As The Baconing shows us, even superheros get bored with their day job from time to time. I feel the need to state my disappointment in the lack of actual bacon in this trailer. Now I must go purchase a pack of bacon to make up for this unfair tease.
