Sacred 2 seems to be following the same basic formula of other hack'n'slash RPGs. There are portals, a bunch of side quests, etc. But this is not a bad thing!
Collecting tons of different kinds of weapons and armor is still as much fun as it was when I first played Champions of Norrath and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. So is slaughtering wave after wave of kobold or cave rat (but how did these cave rats get so damn strong?) If you're a fan of either of the aforementioned games, I would check Sacred 2 out; it fills the next-gen action RPG slot nicely. But here are some things that don't work all that well: The camera angle isn't great. Sometimes I need to zoom out a bit before I can see the enemies in front of me. :\ THE TEXT IS ALMOST UNREADABLE. I'm not sure if the folks over at Ascaron are aware, but not everyone has a widescreen HDTV. Now, I'm playing this on a big screen, but it's over 10 years old. And the text is tiny and blurry and I can't read the weapon descriptions. This need a patch fast. An actual review will be forthcoming.
