My Halloween Video Game-Themed Pumpkin Extravaganza comes to an end with Part 3 -- my 2009 pumpkin, featuring New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Classic photo: I'm in my Nintendo 64 shirt, but the pumpkin
is my 2009 New Super Mario Bros. Wii endeavor.

I just finished this year's beauty and am really happy with it. I never made a scene before, and this time, I tossed aside drawing an image with a pen before cutting and went all Mac The Knife on the gourd. I also painted it.

I hope you all enjoy it, and here's a link to Part 1 and Part 2 of my pumpkin-thon, as well as a video of the pumpkin. Hit the jump for more pics!

Here's the first side: pipe and hill with grass, dirt, and stuff.

Here's Mario riding Yoshi, hitting blocks to get coins.

Thanks to Luigi's copter suit, it looks like he'll hit the flag first.

Clouds are up top and the flag's to the right.
You're almost there, Luigi. Keep going!

Here's the back: NSMBW.

Mario rides Yoshi in the dark.

The title looks cool in the dark.

A shot of the pipe in dark...it's actually a lot brighter
with more than one candle. Check the video to see.

I wish the picture was brighter, but hopefully,
you can see Mario on Yoshi, getting coins.

Luigi's almost there. He's doing well even in the dark.

I think the flag and clouds look cool in the dark.

Here's a close-up of NSMBW in the dark, this time without me.

Well, that's a wrap for this year's pumpkin. I hope you all think it's cool. As for next year, I have no idea, but I generally pick whatever's most popular with kids around the same time as Halloween.

Oh, and on a side note, for this Halloween I'm dressing up as Gilligan, and my girlfriend's going as Mary Ann.

Well done! I haven't looked at the video yet, but those screenshots reveal an impressive pumpkin carving. How long did it all take?

This is amazing, Paul. How much time and effort does this take? And you really carved it without drawing out your carvings on the pumpkin? Damn, you've got mad knife skills!

*Brian, thanks man. The initial carving didn't take too long (maybe 2 hours), but if you add the fine carving to make sure each line is wide enough that you see light coming through, and the little paint job it got, then tack on a couple more hours. It's worth it though. *Jason, thank you. It's probably a 4 hour-ish project in total, and as for effort...well, it's not hard, rather it just takes patience. For me, it's no more difficult than drawing. The only difference is that there's no way to erase, and also, you have to be clever where to cut so that your image doesn't colapse. And yup, I actually didn't even draw anything this time. I'm happy about that. :) *J, thanks and I'll probably put up my Gilligan pics later. *Travis, haha, thanks for the comparisson.
