Castlevania Demo Impressions

I was looking forward for this demo.

Being a ps+ member (nothing special though) I had the chance to experience it. I played and finished the demo and watched a friend play and finish it too. So I experienced it playing and watching.

I admit I was a little disappointed.
From the start, it feels a little too mcuh like God of War. A little too much, except slower and with a Castlevania theme. Having played back in the old days almost all castlevenia iterations I admit they kept the environment (theme), style and 'ambiance' of the original.

Hence it still feels like a God of War. Except less fluid, combat wise. The horse riding part, although thrilling at first glance, doesn't seem to be as 'dynamic' as it is supposed to be..

I don't know, mixed feelings.
Great graphics, the camera during cut-scenes feels like Hideo Kojima has been giving directions, and the sound is good incl. soundtrack. etc.

Worse, after finishing the demo you get a glimpse of what the game will be offering at release date and although it looks phenomenal, it really looks so much like God of War III, gameplay wise, combat wise and scale wise.

Don't get me wrong, I loved God of War III (who didn't anyways) but still...

Very mixed feelings.

How about you  folks?

Regards

The release on PS+ really surprised me on this one.   360 hasn't had a "high quality" God of War clone yet (sorry Dante), so that seems like a good place to build some positive buzz with the lowered expectations.  I think your opinion is going to be mirrored by most of the folks on PS+, and it will likely hurt sales in the long run.  Poor Belmonts...
