What is it?

This Xbox 360/PS3 beat-em-up features quick-time events during the cinematic battles and huge god bosses. Sounds familiar, right? Yes, it's a bit of God of War, only with absurd Japanese-anime over-the-top-ness, starring a cyborg demigod with six arms.

Why is it cool?

I don't recall ever liking quick-time events after Shenmue, but Asura's Wrath makes them cool again. The game doesn't necessarily do anything fresh with them -- it's more about consistency (the same button always catches giant missiles and flips them back at enemies, for example) and the crazy on-screen action your correct inputs will produce. Read on....

The moment this game manages to out-"God of War" God of War

Watch this (it starts around the 0:35 mark):

According to Bobby Tunick, associate product manager on Asura's Wrath, the god-in-space Great Wyzen has "a finger the size of Tennessee." Texas might've been more impressive, but still...that's pretty big.

Now that I think of it, this is pretty much God Hand 2. Excitement!

I can already see this guy fighting Galactus in Marvel vs. Capcom 4.

I'm intrigued. It seems to be very over the top Japanese action in the craziest sense possible. If the gameplay is strong enough to back it up, I'm sold.

I love the art style and the vibe of what I've seen of this so far. You know, with Catherine, El Shaddai, and now this coming out I'm more excited about Japanese games then I have been in quite a while.

Same here. I'm not that into Catherine like everyone else is, but the others I'm definitely excited about!

Holy cow, this game looks and sounds incredible! The very first trailer at the Tokyo Game Show didn't impress me, but the atmosphere in this one reaches epic proportions. I love it.

The gameplay in the demo was very simple...a lot of quick-time events and such. But I had a smile on my face the whole time. Everything was so huge and epic!

I remember when I first saw that trailer and thought the whole time "well it's nice and god of war-like". then the finger thing happened and shit just got real.
