EA/BioWare is right to dismiss homophobic sentiments

This is going to be short, because honestly there ain't much to say.

Soon, a feature is going to be added to Star Wars: The Old Republic that was absent on launch: the ability for your player character to become involved in same-sex romantic relationships. The feature didn't make the cut for the game's release date; BioWare assured it was set to arrive in a future patch.

Homophobic bigots are making the usual irrational, hateful arguments against this feature, claiming it's somehow immoral, decrying the effect it will have on the world's children, etc. They're the usual arguments scared people make when facing the unknown and unfamiliar.

And just like everywhere else this is "debated," the same fact remains true:

There is no valid argument against homosexuality.

None. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Insert several other descriptors for "jack squat" here.

This is not a two-sided issue. There is zero evidence that homosexuality -- or bisexuality for that matter -- has, by virtue of being what it is, any negative impact on anyone. There never has been. There very likely never will be.

It's the year 2012. Faster than light travel and anti-asteroid defenses are much more important issues than whether or not Adam and Steve are getting it on in the privacy of their own home. If two consenting adults of the same gender happen to be in a romantic relationship, you are not negatively affected in any way.

Little Billy, who is 95% heterosexual -- Freud, look him up -- and hides issues of Hustler between his box springs isn't going to be "infected with gay" because he role plays a Republic Trooper who fools around with Aric Jorgan between assignments. The only threat to his well-being will likely come from well-meaning but socially backwards family members asserting the will of some bearded man who lives in the sky, smites evildoers, and is Caucasian. The irony: at least Little Billy knows the Trooper and Jorgan are fictional.

Supposed "Worst Company in America" EA is valiantly fighting off demands to blatantly discriminate against subscribers looking to play non-heterosexual characters. Whether to stave off that dubious and questionable "Worst Company" label or out of genuine concern for its players, EA and BioWare are both to be commended for pressing forward on including same-sex relationships in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Anyone legitimately bothered by this is advised to engage in some likely long overdue personal reflection.

Also Luke and Han totally experimented between movies.

There is no medical, practical, or ethical reason to be against homosexuality.  Homosexuality is simply a threat to our current culture, a threat to our status quo.

Another threat to our status quo is the practice of "sex greetings." A sex greeting is a replacement for the antiquated handshake or european double-kiss. Instead of offering someone your hand when you greet them, you instead engage in short, courteous sex acts with him or her. This practice is widespread in 2420. This practice is perfectly safe medically, it's not a problem practically (due to 25th century fashion), and ethically it's at the same level as snubbing a beggar in our modern day.

And so the only real problem with sex greetings is that it threatens our status quo, our way of life, our culture.

I think if you are against sex greetings, then you must also against homosexuality.

I think it's time to cryogenically freeze myself until 2420. Because that's where I want to live.
