Wallpaper of Noel Vermillion from Blazblue

In a post months ago, I expressed my love for my favorite girls in video games, such as Marle from Chrono Trigger. I figured that I'd play "Ghost Trick" to find even more interesting girls.

Now that I have an Xbox, I think I'm in love with someone else: Noel Vermillion from Blazblue.

I didn't think I'd ever play as such an unusual character who acts so similar to me in real life. In fact, I never even learned about her background until I discovered the story mode in the Blazblue games I bought.

A look at Noel and her unusual blue suit with metal armcuffs.

When I first saw Noel, I really like the way she was designed. Her blue suit really fits her body type comfortably. The beret looks really cute.

Yet, the red ribbon attached to her metal armcuffs really add a mysterious aura to her appearance. It really makes people wonder if she's really an actual person, or a machine that's supposed to resemble an actual person.

Her backstory reveals her as an even more enigmatic character. She has no memory of her past. All she remembers is that she woke up in the middle of a burning meadow five years ago.

Noel shares a laugh with her friends. Left to right: Noel, Jin, Tsubaki, Carl and Makoto

She's a kind person who befriends many people. Yet, she has a tough time sympathizing with them because she never had a family. Although I don't want to spoil the rest of her story, the conclusion to it is pretty shocking. To say the least, Noel discovers that she isn't as real as she thought she was.

Oddly enough, she's one of the few game characters who I can truly sympathize with. Just like Noel, I often have a tough time remembering my own past. As a freelance writer, I especially know what it's like to feel lost in the world, looking a permanant way to support myself.

Noel is also extremely effective as a fighter. Unlike most female fighters, her combo attacks can literally obliterate everyone. Even the pro players have a tough time beating her, because her drive combos are unpredictable. She's just as good at fighting as I am at writing news stories.

I still wonder why we don't have female leads who are as fascinating as Noel Vermillion. I've played through plenty of 3D games with notable women, but the developers tend to focus more on revealing outfits and camera angles. It shouldn't be so hard to design a likeable female character.

Regardless of my disappointment of other female characters, I'm glad I can always look to Noel. I guess you could call her my virtual soul mate, since she only exists in the video game world. I'd better find an actual job, so that I won't have to burden Noel as often.

She's a loving person who probably wouldn't want to see me broke and living around mom and dad all the time.

I can't say I agree with you. In both Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift Noel was either easily manipulated or the butt of cheap jokes, and I think she's objectified as much as any other game character (especially with Continuum Shift and Mu-12).  However, she has some likable aspects and I don't hold it against you if you're fond of her.

Hahaha, I actually like how Noel was manipulated. She's often lost and pondering what she has to do next.

Even the cheap jokes reveal some goofy aspects about her. She has a strange attraction to stuffed animals. I especially like how she takes offense at everyone who says that she looks like a boy or that her breasts aren't as big as Litchi's.

As for Mu-12, I can't really argue about that. I still get annoyed by that disc cover with Mu-12's butt sticking out, or the manual cover with Mu-12's crotch only covered by a thin metal piece. I hope that the storyline has a decent reason for this transformation. I still like the original Noel though.

I completed CS's story mode (I actually main Mu-12) and to be honest the reasoning doesn't make much sense. I think it's more Hazama manipulations but it's like everyone is carrying the idiot ball whenever he's around.

"You're evil and want to destroy the world! I must stop you!"
*Hazama does a 5-minute monologue*
"Oh, OK. I'll join you."

To be honest, I always wonder why nobody suspected the mysterious guy with the black suit and the fedora to be the villain. His outfit is so blatantly obvious. Lol.

I was sad in the arcade mode ending when Noel turned into a tool. Literally. It's like she's always destined to become a tragic figure in Blazblue. Still, I don't blame her for trying to do the right thing.
