The evidence. (Click to embiggen.)

Dear Professor Layton,

I have a mystery in dire need of solving. For over a year now, the character Ingrid from your game Professor Layton and the Curious Village has been stuck to the sidewalk at Post and Kearny in downtown San Francisco. The intersection is a well-trafficked area, and I fear the trampling of feet must be dreadfully uncomfortable for her. Also presumably uncomfortable is the fact that she is missing most of her body, save the tip of her nose [see the enclosed photograph]. How did this happen? Was she part of a guerrilla advertising campaign? I believe I recall some bus shelter ads around the time your game came out -- perhaps she was running to catch the bus, tripped, and fell, never to get up again? I eagerly await your response.
Sincerely,
Brett Bates
P.S. The solution is worth 60 picarats.

Ingrid in better times.

Holy cow, trying to format this post was like herding cats! I submitted it briefly earlier today in a different layout, and it was all sorts of wonky. Any chance we'll be able to edit HTML for our posts any time soon?

That said, any new site -- especially one as ambitious as this -- is going to have its bugs. I understand. I'm not complaining. I'm just--

Okay, I'll be honest: I just wanted to use the phrase "herding cats." Hehe.

Brett, I do not think that if Professor Layton had an advertising campaign they would have used Ingrid.
But I do like your imagination and sense of humor!

Well, if it isn't Ingrid, my guess is that it's still from Professor Layton. I first spotted it around the time they were doing bus ads for the game here in SF. Plus the art design and the house in the background...

In any case, thanks for the compliments, Lance. And Shoe, I don't even want to think about that! She was such an innocent robot.

All this has me jonesing to play Layton again. Nintendo needs to localize the second game pronto.

Layton was an amazing game and one of the few games my Fiancee played for more than 30 seconds.
