Are you sick of those other video-game websites and all of their damn words? LinkedIn makes it easy for you to find who's making what game for which system before the developers even announce it! We just unleashed our first exclusive yesterday when we revealed that Griptonite Games is currently working on a new Shinobi game for the Nintendo 3DS. Want to be one of the first to gain access to information just like this? Join LinkedIn and show the world just how big of an obsessive hardcore gamer you really are.
Here are four tips to get you started:
1. Sign up for LinkedIn. Then find everyone working in the industry that you can. You can look up designers, artists, composers, and more! Don't forget to check out their networks to find out who their co-workers are and increase your chances of finding that big scoop.
2. Put your detective cap on and scour those game makers' resumes daily to see if you can find a title listed that isn't currently announced. Are you unsure if a random employee is a reliable source? It doesn't matter. If something is on the Internet, it must be true. Even if it isn't, who's going to remember about it by next week? Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft put it best when posting about a supposed leaked video for the Shinobi revival (and adding more fuel to the speculation fire): "If this trailer is legit, Sega's ninja series Shinobi could be heading to the Nintendo 3DS. If it's not, then it won't." (UPDATE: Sega announced on Thursday, May 26 that they are indeed working on a new Shinobi game for 3DS and released the finished version of that trailer.)
3. Get the word out! Tweet your finds and take to your favorite fanboy forums to discuss the latest gossip. With LinkedIn, you're the video-game expert. You already know what titles you love or hate just by reading what's on a developer's resume, so you'll be certain whether the upcoming unfinished games are going be hits or not long before the public learns any concrete details.
4. Wait for those other guys to catch up. You were already 60 percent positive that Shinobi 3DS was currently in development yesterday, while Nintendo Power "confirms" it today. Congratulations. You knew it first and, as a result, are way cooler.
Now that you're up to speed with how to find out all of the latest info diehard gamers like you need, you're ready to jump right in. In the event that an employee's profile you originally linked to mysteriously vanishes the next day, just remember: That person might have been fired for the leak...which means it was probably accurate.
