In this "double-fine" episode of the Mobcast, Costume Quest's Tim Schafer and Tasha Harris join Bitmob's Dan Hsu and Brett Bates.

The crew discusses the virtues of disc-based and downloadable content, whether or not comedic developers can create more serious subject matter, underused art styles, and the last laugh-out-loud game they played. Tim also brings his own super-secret topic to the table. (But did he even actually think of one before recording the episode?)

Now that was a funny podcast! Tim Schafer doesn't need to try very hard to get a whole room of podcasters and myself cracking up.

The last game that genuinely made me laugh was Super Meat Boy. I had to wipe tears from my eyes after a few of the cutscenes, I was laughing so hard. The animation and facial expressions are what deliver the humour.

The gore-filled slapstick that follows every death is pretty amusing too. But the funniest part of each level is when you reach the end and Dr. Fetus re-kidnaps Bandage Girl, he always does a quirky exit. Sometimes he'll zoom off screen in road-runner-style, other times he'll land an uppercut on Bandage girl before taking her away. Those little moments add  the steady pacing and momentum that Tim said occurs in the humour of Mystery Science Theatre.
