Game-nerd comedians Jeff Reitman and Adam McLaughlin join the Internet's ubiquitous gamer girl, Raychul Moore, and Bitmob's Dan Hsu on this week's show.

The group discusses the difficulties of making comedic games, which game characters would be interesting in real life (if any), how the Internet hype machine skews game reviews, the rising nuisance of maintaining in-game relationships, their all-time favorite multiplayer modes.

Comics? On the Mobcast? What, the big fat Jewish guy ain't funny enuff for you? I even used enuff instead of enough -- I'm givin' the comedy away. Seriously, I love the idea of this episode. I may listen to it while changing diapers tonight.

In the whole comedy games discussion, I was surprised no one mentioned Portal or Precipice of Darkness series. And there are games that are just pure funny, like Jackass The Game, but the thing is physical humor isn't quite as well received in games as they are in movies. A really funny episode! Sadly, I still think the episodes with Crispin Boyer are more enjoyable. He's just more goofy funny.

Hi bitmobers Dan, About the comedy games I think that you perform your argument why there is no really comedy game in your question very well already. You were asking why there is no genre of comedy in games like there is in films. And then you were naming game genres: shooter, RPG or driving games ;then film genres: horror, comendy or action. So I think you explained why this is. The film genres describe and classify the content of the piece. The game genres describe and classify what you do in the game. Therefore playing a comedy game would mean you have to perform comedy and as you discussed later it is kind of hard to mould this into a mechanic.

My two cents about comedy: It's all about the timing. And in games, the player controls the timing. So it's a lot harder for a developer to plan out comedy -- that's why so much comedy in games plays out in cut scenes.

I love everybody's work, and the mobcast is always amazing, but it makes me laugh how often Shoe tells the audience that Raychul is his girlfriend...We got it! I kid, I kid, rock on

Wow, Raychul sure showed some Mass Effect 2 hate. I want to know how exactly were relationships more organic in Dragon Age than in Mass Effect 2 since from what I've seen and heard on Dragon Age(haven't played it but plan to) you still just talk to people at "camp"(basically your ship minus elevators) and to keep people happy you can just spam them with gifts, which is not necessarily a bad system but it does tell you "yeah, this is a game." I'm not saying that Mass Effect 2 is better with characters but I don't think it forces you into relationships and romances with the characters like Raychul claims, it does recommend that you do their personal side missions to gain their loyalty and extra abilities but it doesn't say you have to. As for the characters themselves they are actually quite interesting, especially Thane, Jack, and Mordin, the latter made me laugh whenever I talked to him. I guess Raychul thought of them more like the one-dimensional bad-asses from the commercials.

"First and only comedy troupe for nerds"? I'm sure Loading Ready Run might contest that.

Alex, yeah that was copy someone wrote and I caught it too late.  It should be "First and only standup comedy troupe for nerds" or something more ego fulfilling like "premiere nerd focused standup comedy troupe" or "bestest ever awesome nerdy lamesors with mics"

About the whole "no game is perfect" thing. This sort of thing is why I wish big named sites would use the review score of monetary value. Some games are not worth the disc they are burned on. Others are worth every penny despite the flaws.
