Brace yourself for EGMi -- it's a little intense.
News Blips:
EGM: The Lost Issue - Part 1 (February 2009) is now available for free online in EGMi Standard format. Think of it as a sort of sneak peak of what to expect in the future from the (new/original owner) Steve Harris version of the magazine. On the downside, you probably know most of the gaming info already, since it's, you know, from a year ago.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 developer DICE is all about free maps. Speaking to Xbox World 360 magazine (via CVG), senior producer Patrick Bach said that "We don't ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together." Of course, this stands in contrast to Infinity Ward, who recently released their own map pack for Modern Warfare 2 for a wallet-hurting $15. Do any of you have a preference?
Microsoft won't put a web browser on the Xbox 360 because they're not fans of surfing the Internet on TV. Speaking with Edge magazine (via CVG), Xbox Product Director Aaron Greenberg said that "the web browsing experience on TV is a poor one, and the real magic is to take those web experiences and optimize them for the living room. That's what we did with Netflix." Point taken, but I don't see why he just doesn't come out and say that they don't want people using their Xbox 360s to look at porn online.
Capcom and Udon are teaming up to create the Street Fighter: World Warrior Encyclopedia. Anxious fans can head over to Amazon to preorder the book, which boasts profiles, art, and background information on all the characters. Finally, I'll get to find out what Ryu's favorite home-cooked meal is.
