It's almost as if Spike knows that serious gamers loathe the Video Game Awards and figures that by putting a bunch of big game premieres in it, maybe, just maybe, some people will actually watch it.
News Blips:
Spike TV's Geoff Keighley recently tweeted that a new Star Wars game will premiere at the Video Game Awards 2009. Furthermore, in a follow-up tweet, he noted that they're "just getting started with VGA premieres" and that there will be "a bunch more announcements next week." Obviously, no substantial info was given in the 140-character tweets, but we can still guess. How about a new Star Wars Podracing game? [Twitter]
Valve and Dell have announced plans to pre-install the popular digital distribution service Steam on every new Alienware PC. The move makes sense for Dell's game-focused line of computers, and it would secure a large portion of the direct-download market for Valve. Finally, pre-installed software on the PC that isn't a trial version or some straight-up shitware. [Destructoid]
From now through April 2010, Namco Bandai is planning to release free downloadable content for their recently released fighter, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast. This is a nice way for Namco to show appreciation for fans of the series. Much better than, you know, just put the content in the game from the get-go. Because that would be too easy. [Kotaku]
Ruffian Games is looking for the talents of some aspiring street artists to tag up Crackdown 2's Pacific City. Send your "graffiti masterpieces" to compo@gazaxian.com by December 9th and the best pieces will be featured in the game. They ask that entrants keep their pieces clean and tasteful, but they're still likely to get a couple of crudely drawn penises. I've sent them a few already. [RuffianGames]
