If you fancy little furballs this holiday season, you have a choice: You can either buy a pet for your Xbox LIVE avatar, or you can Save-a-Stray for the Holidays.

News Blips:

Now your Xbox Live avatar can have it's own pet! Microsoft's Director of Programming for Xbox LIVE, Major Nelson, has announced that starting tomorrow, a variety of pets (including monkeys, snakes, and ponies) will be available for 240 points each on the Xbox LIVE Avatar Marketplace. Digital pets are nice and all, but when are we gonna get digital mythical creatures? [MajorNelson]

Rappers Lady Sovereign and Krayzie Bone have been subpoenaed by the lawsuit-happy Erik Estavillo in his civil suit against Sony Corporation of America. This lawsuit is in regards to Estavillo's banning from the PlayStation Network, which he claims violates his freedom of speech, while the rappers have been subpoenaed to highlight their personal free-speech liberties on "private property." Yesterday, we reported that Estavillo had recently subpoenaed Microsoft chairman Bill Gates in regards to the Xbox 360's Red Ring of Death. Hurray for needlessly tying up public resources! Walmart's recent video game discounts are believed to have resulted in GameStop's stock dropping a significant 8.3% in the S&P 500. The retailer giant has slashed prices on many of the seasons hottest titles by $10 dollars. Bloomberg believes that this may put pressure on GameStop, the world's largest video game retailer, to lower its own prices to "stay competitive." That's right people! Let's remind these corporations who's boss...by giving our money to other big corporations. [Bloomberg]

1UP is reporting that a number of Japanese Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans are upset with the game's shoddy Japanese translation and audio dubbing. The primary conflict comes from the mistranslation of the "No Russian" scene. It seems like this is the game to love and love to hate this holiday season. [1UP]

I don't know what is worse. Microsoft charging for all this useless cosmetic crap (Avatar clothing and now pets? WTF!) or the suckers I see who actually purchase this garbage.

If maybe these items had some effect in-game or something, I can somewhat justify paying anything, but this is ridiculous.

can't blame Microsoft cause people are actually buying these things..
MS is not forcing anyone to purchase a $5 lightsaber or $3 pets but people love throwing down money for em..

sad but true..
