Rapper/teacher Raheem Jarbo, better known as his stage names Random and Mega Ran, is swapping his blue helmet and arm cannon for a Buster Sword.

The Capcom-centric artist, whose previous works sample tunes and concepts from the Mega Man series, recently announced that he is working on a similar album focused on Final Fantasy 7. The as-yet-untitled record is set to release on Jan. 31, 2011.

In the meantime, Random has dropped one track from the upcoming album, "Aerith," for your listening pleasure.

If this is your first exposure to Random, he's quite an interesting guy. This Philadelphia Daily News profile gives a good description of his unique career -- middle-school teacher by day, rapper by night. His brand of intelligent, thoughtful, and sometimes autobiographical rap shouldn't be missed. Check after the break for two more tracks from his previous album, Forever Famicom.

I feared the worst, but thankfully these tracks are actually good! I've heard some pretty awful video-game-themed "raps" and beats.

I'm certainly no rap expert, Alejandro, but Random's stuff has always been pretty high quality. His non-gaming tracks are solid, too -- his debut album The Call is a favorite.
