F.R.A.G. (Federation of Retro and Arcade Gamers) is holding another Retro Gaming Challenge in North Eastern Connecticut for all you retro gamers out there. The Event will be held at the Preston V.F.W. in Preston Connecticut, right down the road from Foxwoods Casino, on July 23rd from 2PM to 11PM (Eastern Time). There will be custom (pin on) buttons with video game recognizibles handed out for performing certain challenges on certain games (like finding a warp zone would earn you a button of Mario going down a pipe) and prizes handed out to the top contenders. The systems range from Atari 2600 all the way up to the Sega Dreamcast and the 12 games (that I can't tag w/o giving things away) to be played for the challenge will be announced as the event begins to ensure a fair playing field.
There will most likely be retro gaming vendors hocking their wares so if your looking for a Coleco or Intellivision and the games to jam out with, you'll find them in great shape here, can't say what the prices on any items will be, just saying, they'll most likely be right inside the door staring you in the face when you walk in =P Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. There will be food and drinks being sold at a great price throughout the event (Pulled Pork Sandwhich's are my favorite) and tables to sit at and eat while you gauge the competition. It's a very friendly atmosphere and you're allowed to watch competitors playing the games during their challenge attempts to help you plan your strategy. FRAG Referees will be on hand, verifying scores for the challenge and ensuring that no cheating takes place.
I've pulled the event info right from facebook in the event format to easily follow, courtesy of F.R.A.G.'s leader and organizer (my good friend) Luke Kalbach. All the info is current, correct and displayed below. Hope to see some of you make it and rock out to some classics!
