We got zombies, neon lights, jetpacks, chainsaws, and more in this week's Community Spotlight. I'd like to see a game combine all of those things. We can call it Acid.
Gears of War 3 embraces the horror
By Matt Polen
Matt takes a look at Gears of War 3's retooled Horde mode and the new Beast mode. I literally just got done playing a Horde map with some friends two minutes before writing this, and I can really say the experience was filled with the tense action I crave. Matt seems to be equally pleased.
Why I don't like Dead Island
By Patrick O'Rourke
I hate zombies. Is that weird? I feel like the undead have been "in" for some time now, so I guess I'm pretty disconnected with pop culture. So yeah, I have no interest in Dead Island. Patrick's review seems to justify my decision.
Review: Hard Reset
By Jamie Dalzell
I don't know a whole lot about Hard Reset, so I found Jamie's article very informative. Apparently, this shooter has an old-school feel and a lot of neon. I see no reason why those things can't go together. Hell, what couldn't use a little neon?
Tiny Tower isn't a game
By Adam Dorsey
The title for Adam's review of Tiny Tower sounds pretty damning, but he's actually a big fan! He just regrets how much of his life this free app has consumed. He sounds downright frantic. I'm mildly terrified. I need to download this iOS game to see what the big deal is.
Jetpack Joyride review (iOS): A dangerous, well-oiled machine
By Tristan Damen
I always wanted to take a Jetpack Joyride. You know, Rocketeer style. Since I don't see my writer's salary buying me a jetpack any time soon, I guess I'll have to settle for this iOS title. Tristan gives it a pretty good endorsement. We can trust him. It's cool; I did a background check on him. He's clean.
