I think this fan-made HD update of Mushroom Hill Zone from the Sega Genesis classic Sonic and Knuckles looks better than Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Sega's own attempt at a side-scrolling Sonic game in HD. All of the textures have an appealing clay-like quality to them.
Sadly, this is just a video created by an animator and not an actual game. Still, it sure is pretty to look at.
Is it me or does Sonic seem slow in this video compared to Sonic 2?
Can I have this instead, please? Even the jump physics look spot on.
It seemed slow to me, but I think he was just spacing the animation out for effect. Once he did the spindash it was up to speed.
I was so-so with it until the light effects came through the trees, and then my heart warmed. Silly how something that simple changed my perception of the video so quickly.
The speed looks right to me. I think sometimes people think the old Sonic games were faster then they were.
