The draw of the next cutest, rarest animal had parents driving miles out of their way to appease their children with the latest toy. Today, we have Webkinz, which are like Beanie Babies but have an interactive online component. Microsoft's Kinectimals ushers in a new era of the fake pet craze, one undoubtedly riddled with microtransactions.
