As potentially devastating snow storms sweep across the land, I snuggle up in a cocoon of blankets to bring you this edition of the mid-week Spotlight.

Andrew Hiscock wants to help you waste time at work, so he's offering up daily gaming suggestions from Kongregate, a site that hosts thousands of free games.

Isaiah Taylor and Brenton Pyle both tackle Sony's sales practices and how now may not be the best time to launch into the development of 3D televisions and download-only handhelds. Their advice on how to fix this problem, however, differs radically.

Michael Lenoch moves on from Sony's business strategies and into the world of sequels. Do gamers really want them or do companies want us to want them?

Finally, Michael Greenberg wants your input on this infographic craft.

Waste a Work Day

A Letter to Sony: 'You're Doing Great. Now Stop with the Stupidity'
By Isaiah Taylor
Isaiah has some tough words for Sony. The small success of the PlayStation 3 last year gives the Sony games division a hopeful spark, one that Isaiah feels diminishes in the wake of the overwhelming amount of poor business decisions that follow. The PSP Go, 3D gaming, and motion control will only drag down sales in the future. His advice? Stop it.

Technology is Moving Too Fast
By Brenton Pyle
Advancements in technology are nice, but Brenton feels the new line of 3D televisions and download-only handhelds may be too much for consumers suffering in these difficult economic times. If companies could slow their release of new formats and revolutionary designs, it might be beneficial to all involved.

Are Sequels What We Want?
By Michael Lenoch
When gamers embrace a new franchise, developers look for ways to capitalize on that success. The result is a sequel that could be far better than the first game -- or infinitely worse. Michael takes a look at how some sequels succeed and others tarnish the good will of a game's fan base. Will BioShock 2 be as good as the original or suffer from sequelitis?
