Are you excited for E3? I sure am. I've sprinkled a couple of E3 articles through this edition of the Community Spotlight just to add to the mounting tension of next week. Enjoy!

Fond and Bitter Memories of E3s Past
By Jon Irwin
E3 makes gamers excited for the future, but it also brings about heavy waves of nostalgia. For Jon, it has him thinking about Nintendo's strange history with the expo, from their less-than-stunning reveal of the Virtual Boy to the hopeful beginning of the GameCube.

An Open Letter to My Fellow Gamers
By Corey Williams
Corey is back with another open letter, this time to the more rage-filled and fight-starting gamers out there. We should try to defend our interests more respectfully, from the franchises we support to the entire medium.

Remembering Tomb Raider:  Cinematic Tension Done Right
By Richard Moss
The original Tomb Raider games now have a bad reputation, thanks to advancing technology. Richard remembers them differently as he recounts the addictive-to-down-right terrifying design elements in those early titles. But what about Tomb Raider now? What changed to make it the butt of jokes rather than Uncharted's main competitor?

Pie In the Sky Dreams of E3
By Ryan Finley
Ryan has some pretty high expectations for this year's E3. I'm sorry to break it to you, but 3D technology is here to stay, or at least until proper smell-o-vision arrives. Ryan also wants to know what your dreams of E3 are. Mine: Persona 5. I feel that's pretty reasonable.

The Decline of Video Game Closure
By Juan Letona
Juan is a big fan of stories having some sense of closure. While many video games don't offer this because of the chance of a sequel, it would be nice for their individual stories to reach a reasonable conclusion.

I never realized how much the Virtual Boy looks like a Team Fortress 2 sentry gun.

Seeing that Virtual Boy makes me wish some developer would implement a remote controlled turret, that walks.

Fond and Bitter Memories, Part II: The Virtual Boy

I bought one for $25 new after stores were trying to get rid of stock.  Later that week I returned it.  Today I ask my former self: Whyyyyyy?   It was actually pretty amazing.  What I wouldn't give to play Red Alarm again...

Thanks for the spotlight!
