Old JeansIt’s Saint Patrick’s Day, fyi, and all across the United States people are using the vaguest amount of Irish heritage to excuse their drunken and disorderly behavior. I remain sober and dedicated to you all as I assemble this very special green edition of the Community Spotlight.

Michael Rousseau starts with an atypical look at the fury of Street Fighter fans over Super Street Fighter 4 – a screenplay revolving around pants. Alex Hann is next with his stance that the soundtrack to a game is probably the most important part of the playing experience.

Jon Porter considers Yoshi’s Island, looking beyond the charming exterior and simplistic-yet-engaging gameplay to find the horrors of thinking too deeply about supposedly whimsical characters. Jose De Jesus spent a lot of time rummaging through the seemingly endless supply of fan-made, fake-video-game movie trailers, and narrowed his list down to his five personal favorites.

Finally, Michael Edwards traces the origin of interactive films back to Dragon’s Lair and shows how Heavy Rain might be the first to really get this type of gameplay right.

Jean Fighter: A Short Screenplay
By Michael Rousseau
Rather than address the anger of Street Fighter fans over the minor changes coming in Super Street Fighter 4 in a typically analytical way, Michael puts his creativity to good use to deliver a screenplay instead. Although brief, he humorously hits the root of the matter via the medium of comfortable clothing.

The Sound of Music
By Alex Hann
To Alex, a game’s soundtrack defines the game more so than characters and plot. While story elements are definitely important, the power and mood of music completes the message and experience. Follow him as he delves into the power of music in the Halo and Elder Scrolls series.

Yoshi’s Island is Really Messed Up: But Only if You Think About it
By Jon Porter
Yoshi’s Island was a very cute and whimsical adventure that showed off the Super Nintendo's gorgeous graphics. While fun, a few elements in the world and gameplay were downright weird compared to other aspects of the Mario Bros. canon. Jon delves a little too deeply into the stranger and slightly creepy aspects of Yoshi’s Island, to the amusement of us all.

Top 5 Best (Fake) Video Game Movie Trailers
By Jose De Jesus
In these days of easy access to cameras, friends, and someone with 3D design experience, making trailers for games that will likely never be made into movies is easier than ever. Jose has collected five very interesting fan-made fake movie trailers, including the infamous Legend of Zelda April Fool’s joke. I question his ranking of the videos, however, as the Diablo 3 piece is absolutely mind-blowing.

Dragon’s Lair Couldn’t, Heavy Rain Will
By Michael Edwards
Dragon’s Lair...just reading the title rekindles the flame of hate I have for most quick-time events, especially those in arcade games. While Dragon’s Lair did pioneer the annoying fast-action gameplay that later transitioned into a sea of terrible full-motion video games, the mechanics had a long way to go. Could Heavy Rain be the game to deliver on the promise of interactive movies that don't suck?
