Bitmob Community Jukebox No. 29 -- Unstoppable Edition

Two weeks ago, it was the common cold. This week, it was a damn computer virus. I got it when I was poking around on some shady sites for the official track listings to a few of the community's game-music selections. Not to worry though. I sprang in to action and quickly arrested the problem -- no traces of the bug remain.

For the 29th Jukebox, regular contributor Michael Pangelina brings us a tune courtesy of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider, Jukebox Archive curator Evan Killham tosses is a song from Heavenly Sword, and don't miss Eric Sapp's selection from Silent Hill 4.

Also, as a small announcement, next week's Jukebox will be the 30th edition. Keeping with tradition, I'll be posting a special version based around a special theme. This time I'm looking for arranged instrumental versions of classic tunes. Whether it's some random, super talented pianist on Youtube piano or a selection from Video Games Live, this is your opportunity to share a favorite instrumental interpretation with the community.

Anyone can join in the fun and show the community some great game music. Hit the jump to find out how.

I've got three ways to the grooves poppin':

Method 1: Pick and Choose

Community Selections

1) Suikoden -- Eternal Flow

2) Torchlight -- Town

3) Boom Blox -- Main Theme

4) Lunar: The Silver Star Story -- Meribia

5) The Lost Vikings -- Workshop Level*

6) Chrono Cross -- Star-Stealing Girl

7) Déjà Vu -- Theme of Ace Harding*

8) LittleBigPlanet -- Atlas (by Battles)

9) Silent Hill 4 -- Fever Chill suggested by Eric Sapp

10) Spiderman -- Sewage Plant* suggested by Michael Pangelina

11) Heavenly Sword -- Main Title suggested by Evan Killham

12) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island -- Flower Garden suggested by Alex Martin

13) Sonic Rush -- Jeh Jeh Rocket suggested by Jeffrey Sandlin

14) Pokemon Diamond/Pearl -- Lake Theme suggested by Ryan Conway

15) Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories -- First Hand Experience in Second Hand Love (by Giorgio Moroder) suggested by Jasmine Maleficent Rea (++good)

Method 2: Let It Ride

(Click here to listen in a separate window.)

Method 3: I'm Tired of This Playlist

Tired of this week's Jukebox selections? Want to scope which classic songs have already been nabbed by other Bitmobbers? Then check out The Bitmob Community Jukebox Archive. Contributor Evan Killham created -- and maintains -- a comprehensive list of every song that the community and I have ever chosen.

With hundreds of tunes available in the Archive, you don't need to fret if this week's jams aren't to your taste. Just click the link, and the records keep on spinnin'!

For all you newcomers, here's how it works -- I've got just two simple rules for submitting songs:

1) Songs from music games with original music and licensed songs from game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto are OK. Submissions from games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band will not be accepted. Otherwise, this post may turn into a competition between people's favorite bands.

2) Only one submission response per person, per week.

When you've thought of a selection, put it in the comments below. And don't worry about the theme you see in the title of the post -- I name each edition retroactively.

I will always try to find the official name of any song I use -- whether it comes from myself or the community. If I am unable to verify a song's title, I will mark it with an asterisk (*).

Finally, if you'd like to win the Double-Plus Good Song of the Week (the weekly best of award), try to think of an obscure song or a song you think the community and I have overlooked in previous posts.

P.S. For next week, make sure to pick songs that are live instrumental renditions of your favorite tunes!

"Atlas" by Battles was in LBP?  Awesome.

I'll go with a classic for next week: "Gerudo Valley theme" by the Hyrule Symphony

@Everyone The choices don't necessarily need to be live -- should have made that clear. They just need to be recorded on real instruments.

@Bryan I love Battles. A friend introduced me to them during a discussion about Helmet (the drummer hails from that band, and he's super talented).

@James:  Oh, that's cool, I never knew Battles and Helmet had the same drummer.  Rightly so, I suppose, as I enjoy both of those bands particularly for the drumming...

Probably my favorite remix of all time - The One-Ups' "Super Mario's Sleigh Ride."  Super Mario World music mixed into a medley of Christmas songs!

I have a feeling next months playlist is gonna get a lot of listens from me. Well, maybe not the DK rap, but I love instrumentals.

I also didn't know battles was in LBP, that's pretty tight. The first time I heard that song was in a skate video.

I figured a lot of people have probably never even touched this game because it was completely changed from it's predecessors. Though, the soundtrack is fantastic (as expected from the classic series)!

Ah, thanks Evan. DK Rap has already been done -- of course, who could pass up that greatness.
