Bitmob Community Meet-Up: PAX East

Editor's note: Derek has volunteered to get the ball rolling on something many of you have been clamoring for: an East Coast meet-up! I'll be at PAX East in Boston with fellow staff member James DeRosa and my Pixel Revolt co-hosts Derek and Jeff Grubb. We want to meet all of you, so come join us, won't you? -Brett

East Coast Bitmobbers unite!

With the March 26 beginning of PAX East rapidly approaching, I've decided to take point in planning out the very first East Coast Bitmob meet-up. I don't have much of a plan just yet, but that's where all of you come in. After I get a better idea of who's coming -- more specifically, the ages of people coming -- I can start hammering out the details.

So if you're coming to PAX East, let me know in the comments. Do you want to meet in the daytime or at night? Are you of legal drinking age? Do you know any great locations around the convention center to host the gathering?

Confirmed guests so far include Bitmob staffers James DeRosa and Brett Bates (who, by the way, is bringing a suitcase full of goodies to give away), along with myself and Pixel Revolt co-host Jeff Grubb. We look forward to finally putting faces to names!

I am hopefully coming to PAX all the way from the UK, so it would be awesome to meet some people. I can't give any recommendations about where to meet though, I'm afraid! Keep us posted.

I'll be at PAX East and I'm definitely down for a Bitmob meet-up! Would prefer meeting up at a place/time that is conducive to the consumption of alcohol.

I'll be at PAX East and attending a meet-up depends on the schedule (which PAX hasn't posted yet), and I'm of the legal drinking age, but I don't really care one way or another whether or not we can drink. I would probably prefer something in the evening just because I'll probably want to maximize my time at the convention during the day.

I'll be there. Not with bells on, though. Will have a friend or two with me - we're all legal. If all goes according to plan, I should have a brand new camera to break in, too. Bitmob portraits? Maybe just yes...

I will be there. Evening is preferable, and I don't care if there's drinking or not, although I am legally allowed to tear shit up.

I'm down for a couple of drinks in the evening or during the day, preferably before the concerts on Friday and Saturday. I asked a friend who's knows the area and he recommended Lir Irish Pub & Restaurant and the Pour House. Both are right in the center so their easy to find. They probably are packed on the weekends, but I'll check them out before March. Personally, I go to Brighton Ave. which is a short trip by the Green Line Subway/Light Rail. It has a nice open spaced bar/restaurant, Big City. Only problem is that the subway stops running at 12:30 am on the weekends and walking back is brutal.

Can't make it out, but I'll be ripping up PAX Prime later this year. I'll see the mobbers there.

I'll be at PAX East and would be interested in a meetup, especially if there's a pub involved. ;)

My 21st birthday present to myself last weekend was a ticket to PAX. As such, I'd love to meet up with fellow Bitmobbers, and I'm all for grabbing a brew at a local pub. If we're going to meet on Friday, I'd prefer that it's during the evening/night, but my Saturday and Sunday is more or less up in he air. Can't wait!

I'm starting to lean towards something Friday evening, but still am looking into all the options. We still have two months to go and I'm excited to already see so many people going.

I'll be at PAX East as well. I'll also be looking for audio stuff for the Exploding Barrel Podcast and video stuff for Press Start (and hopefully I'll have a new JVC GY-HM100U 1080p camera from my University by then). So, you know. Dress Nice.

I will be PAX East and would love to meet people from this site. I don't drink but i'm totally in to food. haha. I don't really have a preference on the time of day either. I'm pretty much down for whatever.

If all goes to according to plan, I'll be there in Boston. I've been hoping for an event which would coax me out of my hinterland hideout. PAX has always seemed like the "ultimate" convention, simply because of its connection to the community. The event seems like the perfect opportunity to meet the east-coasters of Bitmob! Woo-hoo! I'm not of legal drinking age, but I'm determined to dance like an idiot -- wherever we are!

I can confirm that I'll be there as well as Pete Davision, Jeff Parsons, and a lot of other Squad folks. Can't wait to meet up with everyone. I've got $10 on Grubb doing something stupid!
