Doom: The Roguelike -- Kill Demons without Those Pesky Graphics

PC games didn't always have amazing visuals -- they used to involve moving little blocks that look like smiley-faces around maps made from the "#" symbol. ChaosForge returns to the ASCII days of yore, boldly taking Doom where no first-person shooter has gone before.

Doom: The Roguelike is actually just one of the projects that ChaosForge's tackling -- they're also working on Diablo: Roguelike, and it's just as impressive as their rendition of Doom. How long do we have to wait to play Halo on our '80s-era PC? We've got some pictures of DiabloRL after the jump.

Naturally, Diablo would be a perfect fit. But Doom? Sounds pretty interesting.

I get it, but isn't "Diablo: Rougelike" a little redundant? What's next, "Super Mario: The Platformer"?

@Rob Well, Diablo isn't a true roguelike. The enemies don't make a move for each of yours, and you don't lose health as you explore, and when you die, you don't go back to level 1.
