E3: Some of my thoughts

I'm a bit underwhelmed by Nintendo's offering at E3 this year. After seeing both Microsoft and Sony's offerings, Nintendo's just seemed to be a bit empty. New Super Mario Bros. Wii looks fun enough, but hardly seems like a need to have game -- though if it's anything like its DS predecessor, it will sell by the truckloads. We all saw what the WiiMotion Plus is all about last year. Showing it again only made me think "Really? This better not be all you got".I guess it makes some sense to show it and Wii Sports Resort, but dedicating that much time to it just felt like filler to me. Even the final big showing of Super Mario Galaxy 2 just didn't excite me the way a new Mario game should. Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure the game will most likely be fantastic, but I always felt that each Mario game should feel different from the last in some way. This just looked like a rehash of the last one. Maybe it's just me. Maybe it was overshadowed by other two companies shows. Who knows?

Did anyone else notice that Kojima spoke in English for the Microsoft presentation and then Japanese at the Sony one?

Also, am I the only one that thinks the PSP Go seems about $30 too much? People gave Nintendo crap for the price difference between the DS lite and the DSi, but $80 for 16 gigs of flash memory seems a bit expensive to me. I've never picked up a PSP and I've been really excited about the Go. I think it's better looking and it seems more up my alley. Because I never got the original, I wouldn't need to worry about my old UMDs. I might just hafta suck it up and buy it anyway.

Project Natal seems interesting, but I need to try it for myself. I'm a huge believer in the old adage "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is" and this might be one of those cases.

Forza 3 looks really good and so did the PSP version of Gran Turismo. I'm gonna have some good racing sims coming my way soon.

I need to finally pick up a PS3 when God of War 3 comes out. The great thing about waiting as long as I have is, I'll have alot of great backlog to go through. I've really wanted to play the first Uncharted and this new one looks awesome.

I'll post up a more thoughts as soon as I have 'em.

To be completely honest, the PSP seems about $100 too much.

This may be true, but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and using the DSi as an example. I was also using the cost of a flash drive, which is honestly the only new piece of hardware added, as the basis for a cost increase. Nevermind the fact of the cost saved by ditching the UMD drive.
