No game I’ve played communicates the price of war more effectively than Greed Corp for XBLA.  Each round begins with a terrain of rich hexagons and ends with a handful of smoking pillars, the teetering remains of a destructible battleground.

Each map is conquered by judicious application of a scant few tools.  Soldiers cancel out enemy soldiers one to one—16 to a tile, max.  Enemy flanks are exploited via air transport.  If this tug-of-war proves fruitless, cannons can remove the earth from beneath well guarded bases.  Greed Corp is easy to dive into, but continued play reveals considerable depth.
