Go Ahead, Ruin My Day: Sega CD Edition

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

I'm getting ready to move from a nice, big house to a nice, small apartment. That means that my games collection is about to get a whole lot smaller. I figured that I might as well get a story out of some of these "treasures" before I slap them up on eBay, and I'm giving you the opportunity to pick my poison

The rules are simple: There are three (most likely, terrible) Sega CD games below --pick the one you want me to play, and post your selection in the comments. Whatever game has the most votes by the end of today is the "winner." I'll play the game (and hopefully beat it), and then on Friday I'll post an article about the whole horrible experience.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead, ruin my day!

The only thing worse than the Sega CD is the Sega 32X with a Sega CD.

I vote for Kris Kross. Let's make this as painful as possible.

I have that, too. Need one?

I'll go easy on ya. Power Factory looks the least crappy out of those. That one's my vote.

First: shame for not taking on the true mind-breaking horror of Sewer Shark.

Second: Kriss Kross and Power Factory are just generically terrible music-editing games. It doesn't matter how much they suck, after a few minutes most of your mind goes into protective shutdown.  I demand Wirehead, whose attempts at narrative will force your brain to pay attention to the agony!

I cannot say it any better than Luke. Wirehead!

Wirehead!

I will also have to go with Wirehead. Which, apparently, stars the late, great John Hughes.

Thou shalt play Wirehead, and thou shalt despise it to the very core of your essence!

*Cough* What was that? Ugh, I've been reading too many Thor comics and re-reading Shakespearean plays for exams. Yay. Anyway, enjoy a painful experience, we're looking forward to seeing how close you are to killing all of us at the end of it.

Wirehead looks more like a crappy 90's movie than a crappy 90's video game. I vote for Kriss Kross, but only if Aaron plays it with his pants on backwards.

Wirehead! Wirehead! Wirehead! (That counts as three votes, right?)

Wirehead sounds absolutely terrible.  It has my vote.

For some reason I was secretly hoping you guys picked Wirehead. I'm not really sure why. Looks like that's the leader so far. Any more votes?

Well, Wirehead I guess. Seanbaby, Crispin and Shane already tore it up on broken pixels a while ago, but I'd like to see your take.

I hope this is as good as the Rugrats one.

I guess Wirehead is the way to go but I don't know if it will ruin your day. I've never played it, however, I just find that FMV games can be entertaining even if they aren't fun to control. I think the Sega Saturn has a lot more bad games to choose from, primarily because of the numerous Acclaim licensed games. If you ever put Saturn in this column be sure to have a copy of The Crow: City of Angels on hand.
